When do the clocks change this year?

When does daylight saving time end this year? For the past couple of years, it’s changed and after just now talking with a co-worker, I realize I don’t know when the clocks go back. In fact, my co-worker brought it up because his Mac has already reset itself by an hour. Obviously a mistake, but…for real, when is the actual date?

Just wondering.

First hit in google for Daylight Saving Time 2009

Nov 1, this weekend.

That’s strange. My old VHS in the basement has already changed, but that’s because it’s about 10 years old and manufactured well before the DST change Bush brought in. (Thing doesn’t work that well and is really only good for showing the time, so it’s not affecting recordings.) My computer always says the correct DST, that is, after Bush’s change, the next Windows Update fixed that. So, surprised that the Mac isn’t automatically updated!

Let me guess…
He’s running some ancient OS (like Panther).
Anything newer than Tiger handles this correctly.

**When do the clocks change this year? **

It is important to note that the clocks will remain the same. However the *time settings *will be retarded by one hour on Nov. 1st.

This is also one of the only occations remaining where the use of the word ‘retarded’ is still acceptable.

You know what? I missread. Nevermind.

They changed last weekend if you’re in Europe, next weekend if you’re in North America. For Indiana consult your local guidebook.

I have a clock in the bedroom that unfortunately changed on Saturday. If I change the settings, it changes back again. This clock is supposed to be set by some radio signal or something - so despite repeated attempts, it refuses to remain how I set it and now I have had to remember to mentally add an hour all week and will continue to have to do so until next Saturday night.

My guess is, whatever deity that is sending signals hasn’t been given the memo for a few years.

I have known this vital information for several weeks because I bartend…and I’m working Halloween night…and it’s the dreaded FALL BACK shift where everyone gets to drink for another hour.

Good times for all, of course, excepting the poor slobs behind the bar who have to deal with drunks for an extra hour, and then get home at what is technically 6 in the morning…

I’ve worked Halloweens and I’ve worked the “fall back shift” but I’ve never seen them combined.

I’m not anticipating it with joy.

I may have to have a shot around that time, actually, to help myself get over it.

Like ShibbOleth said they changed last weekend (night between saturday and sunday) here in Europe, so maybe that’s the reason some of your radios and VCR’s have changed already.

Tell him that real computers know what time it is.

We changed in Australia several weeks ago.

If we have to go through this absurd rigmarole, why isn’t the world properly coordinated? Is it something to do with latitudes, maybe?

Oh, freaking hell. That means I’m working a 13 hour shift Saturday night instead of just 12. Stupid DST.

My co-workers in Brazil already changed their clocks, so our shifts are kinda screwed up for a while.

And of course some smug person who lives in Arizona (like me) will come along to post about how happy he is to not have to put up with this time-changing foolishness at all.

Yes, it’s a pleasure…
Until you arrive in Palm Springs an hour early, because you forgot that we are now on the same time.

Gaudere strikes again.

Woo hoo! I get an extra hour of birthday!

It’s funny that Panther is now considered ancient having been released as recently as 2003.

Yeah, computers sure age fast.
I was talking to a friend yesterday who I suspect has a a bad backlight on her iBook G3. I said that if that’s the case, it’s probably not worth fixing. She replied “but it’s a new machine!” I guessed that it’s probably at least 6 years old, which makes it positively archaic…
