So, summer vacation is nearly over. When do your kids go back?
My kids went back last Thursday.
Mine go back tomorrow for an “orientation week” that is mandatory for new students and students entering a new classroom (our Pre-K/K and elementary classes are blended, so a 1st grader will be in the same classroom through 3rd grade), and optional for everyone else. Hell yeah my kids are going back early! 
It really is a great way to get the kids back into “school mode.”
School “officially” begins on Tuesday, September 2.

My English private school starts on Mon Sep 1.
In case you’re interested, we also have Saturday morning school throughout, which translates into longer holidays than State schools.
My elementary-schooler went back on August 11, and my high-schoolers (different school district) started even earlier, on August 7.
Debate camp started on the 13th. The rest of the students came back last Monday.
Tomorrow. Texas used to start earlier, but they passed a law so that they could keep Six Flags and Sea World open until the Yankees go back to school.
My son’s got Orientation (required for all grade levels at different times) on Tuesday the 26, and first day of school on September 2nd. The Chicago Public Schools start later than any other district around here.
September 3rd.
Most Atlanta-area schools started on Aug. 11th – two weeks ago.
School started again in this area on August 18th.
My son goes back (in central Pennsylvania) this Wednesday.
I’ve seen signs saying “School starts September 2nd”.
I think it has to do with no A/C around here.
Baltimore County public schools are in session tomorrow.

Since time immemorial, Norskie schools have started around August 20 and ended around June 20. Exactly which day depends on how long Christmas vacation is (which depends on which day of the week Christmas Day falls on) and how many other public holidays fall on school days. This year Christmas vacation is long, so the kids went back early.
K-12 schools in the area (both public and private) started the second week of August. My kids are all finished with that, though. Woo!
My daughter in Community College started this week.
My daughter at Belhaven College also started this week.
K-12 here started August 13, and will let out around June 12th. They have week-long vacations at Thanksgiving and in February, or something.
The Kiddo started August 11th. He’s out June 12th.He’s on what’s called “modified traditional”. They get 8 weeks for summer, but a full week for Thanksgiving, 3 weeks for Christmas and 2 weeks for spring break.
How many people wanted to say, “Not soon enough”?

We started the 18th. My college freshman daughter started the same day.
