Well let’s distinguish between political attacks that you make just because some people will believe them and objectively holding someone responsible. I never blamed the Democratic Party for being endorsed by Communists except for guys like Henry Wallace, who actively seemed to like them.
Please. We prefer “swamp Yankee”.
It is in Hispanic and mostly alternative media where the very shameful behavior of a Trump supporter (or it was a staffer?) was launched towards the Univision reporter:
Via The Young Turks:
The big issue for me is that while it is true that Trump is not responsible for the makeup of his supporters the problem is that Trump AFAIK never told that supporter that that was not a good thing to do, and kowtowing to guys like Arpaio makes this idea that Trump does not agree with people that are like that supporter is a bit naive.
Lindsey Graham said the same thing as well.
As for the MSM not getting worked up about this, from what I saw on MSNBC Friday morning they are very worked up. In fact the position they were taking is that now the other candidates will be asked about this. They specifically mentioned Bush, Rubio and Carson as people they intend to press on the issue.
Or is MSNBC not mainstream enough? I doubt this issue is going away for Trump or the other GOP candidates as easily as you guys think.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this part of the general stereotype of GOP members, especially older ones, aside from niche factions such as the Log Cabin Republicans?
Sadly, I think this is something Americans have come to accept and expect of them, so unless Trump commits some kind of Hindenburg, it may just be swept under the hairpiece… err I mean rug, and considered as “par for the course.”
Why should Trump counter fanatical conspiracy theories? That’s exactly the population he wants. What’s disgusting is that the same right wingers call Obama divisive.
Yesterday. Media call-out was how I learned about the “Obama and other Muslims” incident.
OP answered. Next question?
Well two things, I pointed that if Trump kept being ahead in the primary polls that the media’s behavior of cutting down the leader down to size would become much more active.
And secondly, MSNBC has been pointed out before as one of the few sources that has a leftist bias by many on the left. And even then the corporation’s bottom line can still show up.
[Aside]
It has been a pet peeve of mine, it always surprise me why the opinion of the people of the left is dismissed or not consulted regarding what they do consider to be a more fair news outlet among all the corporate media out there, the majority of newscasts (and sometimes even MSNBC) just follow a narrative that kowtows to the establishment or elite candidates with little scrutiny or criticism coming from the mainstream reporters. The only change to that indeed comes because the mainstream can not leave a leader of the polls and remove the oxygen from other candidates that have lots of money in political advertisements that the media wants. (And IMHO by hook or by crook the MSM will get a big piece of that money)
Conservatives do tell us that FOX news is “fair and balanced” and so many liberals do take that into account, and also that the corporation’s bottom line prevents many news items that are considered important for the left to have almost no coverage at all. No such thing happens the other way around, most conservatives I see ignore what the left does think and consider all other mainstream news besides FOX to be liberal and ignore the corporation’s control of the news.
Why is it OK to disparage Trump’s hair but it’s not OK to mention Carly Fiorina’s face? Is it OK for you to talk about Trump’s alleged “hairpiece/rug”, or for Hillary to do a Trump’s hair skit on Jimmy Fallon’s show, but mentioning Fiorina’s face is somehow off limits?
Meanwhile, Trump recently appeared before thousands of potential voters and decided to take questions from anyone in the audience. How un-Hillary of him. It certainly would have been politically safer if he had taken a page from Hillary’s “How to Speak To a Small, Hand Picked, Carefully Screened, Audience”.
Someone in the audience mentioned Muslims and Obama. Who was that person? Has the media outlets tracked him down yet? How long did it take the media outlets to track down Joe the Plumber? Did Trump invite this guy to this event?
If Obama wants to clarify his position, he can chose to do so. Or he can wait for someone at an MSNBC-style media outlet to ride to his rescue. The question is - should everyone else be required to defend Obama?
I get that it’s not Trump’s job to defend the president etc., but it seems to me that focusing on the accusation of Obamian muslimhood misses the real problem with joe lunchbucket’s rant:
“We’ve got a problem in this country,” said the first questioner. “It’s called Muslims. You know our current President is one. You know he’s not even an American.”
“We need this question” Trump said, laughing.
“But anyway,” the man continued, “We have training camps growing, where they want to kill us. That’s my question: When can we get rid of them?”
The president’s a muslim… When can we get rid of them? Somehow that gets a pass?
(post shortened)
I’ll suggest that most conservatives currently ignore the left when the left tells conservatives what or how they should think. The left is simply unbelievable when they do that (telling conservatives what to think).
Many liberals, such as the San Francisco city council, claim that FOX News isn’t a real news outlet when FOX tried to interview the SF council members concerning a convicted-felon illegal alien murdering a women in their city. I guess those liberals did not take “Fair and Balanced” into account?
Thank you. It’s sad that the level of lies, malarkey, malice and mischief is so advanced that I need to ask the question. Or that Christie and Graham need to be asked the question.
How about the others? Cruz? The half-Canadian half-Cuban, by far the right-wingiest of the batch according to this handy chart, stood by, and lied for, his father, Rafael Cruz who condemned Obama for refusing to say the Pledge of Allegiance properly, being a Godless Marxist, telling him to go back to Kenya.
First because no candidates in serious discussions AFAIK have brought up Trump’s hair style as an issue in the campaign. Trump brought up Fiorina’s appearance.
Secondly, because hair style is a choice, and one’s face is not. And Trump picked one that makes him look utterly ridiculous. Is this who you want to represent your nation and be the leader of the free world?
When you are a candidate for President, and someone says the President of the US is “a Muslim” and “not even an American”, you either cut the ugly racism right there and then, or you accept it and make it part of your campaign. McCain had the integrity to do the former; Trump did the latter. When ugly racism is leveled against the President, refuting it is not “defending Obama” – it’s defending honesty, defending basic integrity, and defending democracy.
None of this should really need to be said.
What if Mr Trump didn’t say anything? But he did say something.
If you listen carefully to the many repeats of his town hall meeting on CNN, CBS, ABC and NBC Mr Trump did say something back (under his breath almost).
He said, “We need more questions like this” and then he said we are looking into the accusation’s that there are Muslim training camps in America.
I am not a fan of Mr Trump … but here is a millionaire with enough money to bring out the facts of a legal birth in Hawaii, not an illegal one, of a white woman citizen of the USA (in her ninth month) married to a black male African Muslim father of Barrack Obama giving him a Muslim middle name.
His mother divorces the first father after flying to Washington State and spending less than one month there returns to Hawaii and marries another Muslim in Indonesia and raises her son in a school there that is in a pro Muslim state (not sure if it was a Catholic school or a Muslim one).
Raised in Hawaii goes to school in Hawaii and moves to Chicago goes to Harvard and it has never been explained how he could afford such an expensive college education, plus taking a vacation trip to Pakistan paid for by who?
Mr Obama’s favorite book that he used in his teaching classes called “How to win elections with town hall meetings” was dedicated to Lucifer by it’s author. This does not mean of course that Mr Obama is not a Christian, but still raises eyebrows due to how he did win the election with small town hall meetings.
Seven years in the White House and no home church with the excuses due to the security concerns. He has been reported to go to Camp David for Sunday church services, but not of course every Sunday.
Does his wife or his daughters go to church? Do they stay home on Sunday and read the bible?
Christians don’t bow down to Saudi Kings or kiss their ring fingers when meeting them either.
It wouldn’t take much research to call out Mr Obama on being a follower of Jesus Christ. What if when Mr Obama leaves office he admits that he is a closet Muslim?
Would that be proof enough to prove that something shady has been going on for years?
Nope, missing the point, no one is telling the conservatives to believe that FOX news is “fair and balanced” they tell us that and even if we think that that is silly the liberals however do recognize that conservatives prefer that news source. But going the other way many conservatives just dismiss it when the liberals tell them that the corporate media is not automatically fair with ideas that the left does consider important.
As soon as FOX stops being a propaganda outlet for the Republicans I would trust them, but that is not the point, the point was that the left does not deny what the right does consider FOX be their news, the right does deny that many on the left do not consider most of the mainstream media to be “their news”.
I will believe that the mainstream is liberal the moment I see that a celebrity from the left does replace the reporters at CNN or ABC when the main reporter stars of their news magazines are sick or absent. At Fox news that was the usual, if O’Reilly or Hannity got sick then Huckabee or even freaking Chuck Norris did replace them. If the MSM was liberal then it would be common to see replacements like Bill Moyers or Michael Moore.*
- Yes, unlikely, but I would had loved to see all the right wing shitting their pants after seeing that in the TV.
I must have missed something. When did Trump and his team of investigators EVER announce the results of their investigation? Can you point me to the news coverage that accompanied it?
Trump brought out no new facts about Obama’s birth. The circumstances of his birth have been well known and publicly available since long before Trump started to look into it (or pretend to look into it).
I think you’ve got the timeline confused, but in any case, so what? How is this relevant to who he is today?
Yes, it’s been explained (and never hidden) – he paid for college with student loans. He had lots of student loans that took many years for him to pay off.
Do you mean Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals? If so, cite that it’s his “favorite book”? No idea what this “how to win elections…” book is – got a cite?
Most Christians I know don’t belong to a church or go to church regularly. As to their private religious activities, there’s no way to know, except to go by their public statements, and the Obamas have both stated their devotion to Christianity and the influence of the Bible in their lives.
Then I guess George W Bush wasn’t a Christian? Irrelevant nonsense in any case.
It’s so weird that people dig so deep into the minutiae of Obama’s childhood, and silliness like whether he bent at the waist upon meeting the petite Saudi king, when he’s been president for one and a half terms… it seems like the best way to determine Obama’s attitude about America would be to pay attention to his actions as president. And as president, he’s pretty much been down-the-line mainstream Democrat. Bill Clinton would have done most of what Obama did, and Obama would have done most of what Clinton did, were their presidencies switched. He’s a mainstream Democrat, moderate-to-liberal (by American political standards – quite conservative by world political standards), and he has the support of most Democratic voters and most Democratic office-holders.
Regarding?
Arabic. There are no Muslim names. There are no illegal births, either.
How does that “raise eyebrows”? It’s a perfectly legitimate political tactic, and civically preferable to most. And who is this author you speak of? And are you insinuating Obama is a Muslim, or a Satanist? They’re not quite the same thing, you know.
Reagan gave the same reasons for the same thing.
-
Whyever not?!
-
Is kissing them on the lips any better?!
No. Because it shouldn’t fucking matter what religion the President is.
