Maybe that’s the point, and you’re mis-hearing it:
Could it be “Pisses, pisses, pisses off me?”

Ouch!!! :o
I write, so I have an idea of how bad that must have been. Maybe it would have been a good idea to ask her what she thought about your story, maybe without telling her you wrote it. It might have been a good way to get advice. Of course, maybe telling her you wrote it would have been better for that.
Hmm… I’m trying to decide if that would make the lyrics better or worse. They wouldn’t be as badly cliched, but they’d still be annoying and angsty.
FTR, I might as well mention who the band and producer were that I was talking about. The ‘band’ was actually Glen Phillips, and the producer is John Fields. I said something like “the album might be too poppy. The fact that John Fields is producing it doesn’t help things”.
And his reply wasn’t snarky or anything. He just said something like “let me assure you that it’s not going to be too poppy. I enjoy reading the speculation about how it might or should or should not be. All I know is that I had a good time making it with Glen.”
