When some animals are more equal than others.

I and my army of ruthless five-year-olds will literally fight you tooth and nail the entire way, Juanita-come-lately. Don’t you even try it, or you’ll really find out what it means to be oppressed.

Ah, so now it’s everybody else’s fault your pittings are lame. Apparently “just random thoughts” (your words) belong in the Pit now, and when they turn into MMPs the OP should be surprised.

The premise of your argument is a paranoid delusion. The world isn’t out to get you, any more than it’s out to get anyone else. Of course, the fire of your burning hatred went out too quickly to mouse over to the exclamation point and report Opal’s post. Kettle, meet pot. Pot, kettle.

I’m kinda meh on this one. While it may not have been reported, it was the post just prior to the moderator’s post that closed the thread.

Personally, I think the mods should single Sampiro out for mistreatment. He makes lots of weird noises when he feels put upon. Which is most of the time.

I also think Sapo and Carnalk should come clean. Not just about their unnatural love for one another, but about the fact that they really don’t want the moderation of the board go smoothly. They like drama and they like to have something to complain about. I’d respect honesty more than affected concern and interest.

Dutifully admitting that I am the caricature you’ve created of me seems a small price to pay for your respect. Still not worth it though.

Doesn’t that happen quite often? Someone will get a warning for nastiness, when on the previous page, the person who being nasty was getting a ration of shit. No warning for those posters on the previous page, just for the sniping in the reported post. The mods don’t actually read the threads, guys. They only read the posts that are reported. Mods have said as much to me when I’ve asked why one person was warned in an exchange but not another, equally deserving, poster.

The moral of the story is, if you want someone to get smacked down for violating board rules, you have to report the post. If you’re not into doing that, then don’t expect your issues to get noticed on their own. I’m not a huge fan of reporting posts, but if you press the button, your issues get noticed, where there wouldn’t otherwise. If that’s what you want, that’s what you have to do.

Sure, but I think they might take notice of the post before theirs.

You would think so. But apparently not. Seriously, they really don’t look into what lead up to the issue, just the post in question. Reading the post before that, or the page before that? Not happening.

Huh?
What are you talking about?

She gave him the money, even after swearing that he’d never get another red cent from Congress for the war.

Get with the times, would ya?! Learn yourself some of the new-fangled S5 logic of his and it’ll all make perfect sense.

Jeeze Louise, rate I’m going, I’ll have to start charging Lib some meatspace dough* for all the interpreting services. :dubious:

*Preferably in Euros.

On preview: link added to further expound Lib’s explanation.

House approves $70 billion for wars

See? You stil owe me, bud.

I don’t think the issue was “whatever could Lib mean by this statement” but more of a “what the fuck does it have to do with this thread?” type of sentiment. Gotta admit I don’t see the connection either.

You’re wrong. Sapo wants to be part of the “in crowd” here (whatever that is) and he wants it like yesterday. I’m glad he’s leaving, but only because he reminds me of Excalibre. It’s a pity when a good mind goes bad on the Intarnets. Candle in the Wind is playing somewhere now.

About CarnalK, you’re wrong again. He wants peace through entropy. I can respect that.

Personally, I’ve had my own run-ins with the people who moderate this board and I must say in the clear light of day it’s been professional and fair. It doesn’t mean I wasn’t upset at the time.
To Sapo: You quit so I’m not going to post my answer to your OP. If you want to talk about this you are invited to go private. E-mail’s in my profile.

Psst! Clink link.

PS-Disclaimer. I ain’t paying for the Tylenol for those that click. OTOH, INSFAICT, which isn’t much at all, it is, work-safe.

Just sayin’…

What’s your point, funkypants? That thread totally rocks my brainbucket and I’m only now on page 2.

Why, none at all, really. Just getting back to old-times, when ribbing Lib was a hobby of mine.

Just making sure I hadn’t forgotten how, I guess…

And yes, by all means, go forth and rock your brainbucket, as it’s obviously much larger than mine.

Wait, what?

This does not make sense. You think he wants to be part of the in crowd. Yet you already know he is leaving*.

I take exception to your characterization of whether Mods read posts or not. Mods read threads all the time. Not every thread, but I read most threads in General Questions and many, many in other fora. I will admit that the law of averages says that most likely a member of the board is gonna notice an offensive post before we get to read it. And, lucky for all of us, some bother to report the bad post.

We certainly appreciate all the help we can get.

Look, take all the exception you want. I’m not backing off my statement. It happens frequently that a Mod doesn’t get the whole story before taking action and only takes action on what was said on the page on top, if that. The OpalCat example in the T.O. thread is an egregious one but by no means atypical. You can take umbrage if you wish, but I’ve been flat-out told, ‘we aren’t going back into a thread to see what happened. We read the reported post, we take the required action.’ I haven’t heard that from you, but I have heard it.

Don’t mistake me-- I don’t care that Opal wasn’t warned. I do care when shit flies between real members and the Mods only smack the person whose post was reported, nothing else. Try to tell me that doesn’t happen.
