Yes, I would second that, 8 years on. That temporary board was true service to the community.
I personally date the Winter of the Missed Content by Grey Cup 2001, which was in Montreal. On one thread in late fall, 2001, matt_mcl created a fantastic schematic of the Montreal Metro, using the smilies of different colours to represent the different routes. I printed it out and took it with me to Grey Cup!
Sadly, that thread kept getting replies posted to it into December 2001, and was sucked into the vortex, so when I went looking for it when I was going to Montreal again a few years later, it was gone.

Except, of course, for those of us who used the “Save” feature on our browsers to keep copies of particularly interesting threads for future blackmail purposes.

It’s was kind of like a mass power failure. You know how things are… some people hide in their rooms and won’t come out until it’s over, some turn to rioting and looting, but most people end up asking their neighbors over to help eat up all the melting ice cream, fire up the grill to cook all the defrosting meat and try to have a good time until things get back to normal.
Seconding these dates. It was my freshman year of college. The last date I saw content for was 12/8/2001. There was a thread that I posted in that was cut off mid-stream; I had to pull it back in 2003 for a stupid memoir project for a college class. Don’t ask why I was pulling my own posts for cites; I got an A in the course anyway.
EDIT: I can still log in there, but it screws up and won’t display. On second thought, I think that it was earlier than that. How does one look up a profile?
