My wife and I are planting sun flower’s this year and are wondering the best time to start them? We want to start them inside and are unsure of the timing? We live in CT and have several spots with lot’s of sun! Thanks all!
Chicago here. We start our sunflowers here indoors about the end of March beginning of April.
We don’t move them outside until almost the end of May.
I’m in Rhode Island and I tend to plant them right into the garden as seeds around mid-April. The first year I had them, I started them in the house, but they grow so quickly outdoors that I don’t bother to do that anymore. And I find that I have so many volunteers from seeds that fell off the previous year’s blooms, that I barely need to plant them at all anymore, unless I want to add a new variety. (I used to plant the smaller varieties, but I seem to have all of a sudden become obsessed with getting the biggest ones possible…)
