That is, when was the existence of further islands north of the Arctic Circle ruled out? Or that the interior of Greenland was completely glaciated, with no dry valleys?
Since no one else has answered yet, I suspect it was when we had satellites that could photograph the Earth. Otherwise, it’d be hard to be sure you’d covered everywhere.
