When Were Headbands Last In Style?

Jor-El (Krypton) wore them… so did Wonder Woman. Has any fashion designer ever used them? Aside from some Southwestern USA Indian tribes, i haven’t seen them on anyone.
A cool look that deserves to come back

You should be that first brave person who brings them back.

I still see them around, especially on women, but they tend to be a lot wider now than they were in the '80s. There’s a modern men’s version that kinda blurs the line between a headband and a do-rag.

Do you mean a headband like the ones to keep hair back, or the kind that go around the forehead, like a headache band from the 1920s?

If it’s the former, I see them all the time. My junior high girls all wore thin elastic ones, and the actress playing Peter Florrick’s mother seems to wear one quite often.

You got a treat here. Don’t thank me just pass it forward.

They are currently acceptable for business wear. Go ahead and wear yours to work.

In the 60s and 70s head bands were part of the hippie uniform. Everyone had to wear head bands to demonstrate non-conformity.

Also, you have to wear a headband with a fringed vest.

Which may be why they won’t come back into style for another generation or so…
Before something can be cool again, people need time to forget how ridiculous it is.

This fashion icon wears them.

Currently in style: bohemian headbands, sporty headbands, slouchy headbands…the list goes on.

Bohemian

Sporty

Slouchy

And men wear them too…

I was going to say when Mike Reno was working for the weekend but apparently they’ve made somewhat of a comeback. Very hard look to pull of, IMO.

The uniform was long hair. The headband was to keep it out of your eyes.

My favorites:

Last time I remember them being in style was when Jim McMahon was QB for the Chicago Bears Superbowl team.

I’m sure I missed a lot post-1999…so

Whoops! Forgot** this guy:**

D’oh! :smack:

Canadian band Loverboy knew how to rock a headband, and so can you - Turn me loose.

Compare them to their fellow Canadian Neil Young. His scruffy, untethered hair did absolutely nothing for him, while my younger sister was quite taken with Loverboy’s lead singer.

Today’s learning: Head band = chick magnet

I think the rule is: if you can get away with leather pants, you can get away with a head band.

Not that uncommon while working out. That sweat head band thingy. But I haven’t seen it on streets.

All I can picture is Cher, in the 60’s, in a fringed vest with an Indian headband. Maybe with some feathers in it.

I have some wire and glass bead headbands made for keeping my growing out bangs out of my eyes, the half-circle kind. They can give me a headache if I wear them too long, though.

I always thought it was clever to label them “HEAD.”

I kept waiting for them to come out with ones that said “WRIST.”
