When were the last segregation-laws abolished in the U.S?

I’m currently working on a project concerning the MIBURN-case in Mississippi back in the 60’s and I was wondering if anyone knows when the last laws prohibiting the African-American population from mixing with the Caucasian population was abolished? If you know this, please post your answer ASAP or send me a message on ICQ: 47198225
Thanks.

Miscegenation laws were officially overturned by the Supreme Court in 1968.

However, the Alabama Legislature did not repeal Section 102 of its Constitution (Miscegenation Laws) until 2000. (Repealed by Amendment 667; Proposed by Act 99-321, submitted at the Nov. 7, 2000 election, and proclaimed ratified.)

Don’t know if there are still laws like this in the Constitutions of other states.

As the federal government “spoke on” segregation and miscegenation in 1968, any state laws would have been automatically overturned. States may make laws about which the federal government is silent, but may not make or maintain laws contrary to federal law. (Or something like that.)

Hope this helps.

Thanks! It helps a lot!
