I voted for “Other” to cover that. I eat while driving.
(Kinda gross, and a little dangerous. I did once spill a large soda in my lap. Oh, well!)

Usually I drive home while making sure the fries have been properly prepared. If I don’t go home I’ll probably eat while I’m driving.
I get drive-through only if I’m in such a hurry driving place that I don’t have time to sit inside the restaurant, so I’ll eat it in the car while driving. I don’t think it’s very safe…
I pretty much always eat it in my car. If I need the WiFi or if the restaurant has a reasonable good view I eat in their parking lot.
Most times I’ll drive to a nearby location with a view and eat in my car there.
I occasionally eat while driving but this is becoming more rare. Usually I want to make phone calls or write emails during ‘lunch or dinner breaks’ So I can’t manage the phone food and driving at the same time.
Most of the time at home unless I hit the drive-through when I’m staying out-of-town. Then usually the motel room I’m in; which is basically the same thing.
Depends
If I am heading out somewhere I eat in the car as I drive.
If I am close to home I’ll wait and eat it there.
The vast majority of times that I use the drive-thru I am going to take the food home to eat. I seldom eat in the car anymore unless I am out and about and in a hurry.
Frankly, I don’t use the drive-thru unless there are no other cars in the line, if there are other cars I just get a to-go order at the counter. Gas is too expensive to just let it burn out of the car waiting while the idiot in front of me can’t decide if he wants cheese or not on his Burger Biggie.
When we get fast food, if we’re on our way home and close, we eat at home. If not going home or not close, we eat in the car in the parking lot. But we don’t ever use the drive thru - I just go in and bring the food out.
If I’m buying fast food at a restaurant, it’s probably to shut up whiny passengers on a road trip, in which case I am driving and not eating, while they eat in the car and spill things.
That or I am buying Chic-fil-A grilled nuggets and Ice Dream for my dog, in which case we guiltily eat it outside, hoping no one sees us and mistakenly concludes that we hate gay people.
I’ll go get the food and bring it back to work and eat at my desk. When my Wife and I are on a long road trip, we usually eat in the car to save time.
Even on a road trip, I’ll usually eat in the restaurant. That’s partly because I don’t want to mess up the car and get french fries spilled all over. But stopping to eat is also a nice break. I can wash my hands after I eat, and use the bathroom if i need to. Who has such a tight travel schedule that you can’t spare thirty minutes or less for a meal?
That’s PER meal. It adds up to extra hours on the road, hours that make a big difference when you are the only driver. There is only so long one can remain awake and alert enough to drive safely.
I usually eat in the car while driving. I don’t think it’s ever occurred to me to take fast food home, but I live in an urban enough area that there aren’t many drive throughs close enough that the food would still be hot by the time we got home. Drive throughs are almost entirely a road trip thing for me - stop at the gas station to fill the car, stop at Burger King to pick up food, get back on the highway.
I’ll go through the drive-through, eat the fries on the way home while driving, and then eat the rest of the food at home. So I’m an even 50-50 on what I do with a single meal.
It depends why I’m buying the food.
Scenario 1:
If I’m on the road traveling, trying to be somewhere, and it’s not my vehicle, I’ll eat in the car (with permission).
Scenario 2:
Similar to the above, but I’m not in a rush (or I’m trying to kill time). I’ll eat at the place.
Scenario 3:
If I just didn’t feel like cooking that day, or felt like eating something good from the local place, I’ll buy it then generally take it back home.
How on earth could you forget what is probably the single most common response??
I rarely have drives that last through multiple meal times, but even if you do, surely the break helps to keep you alert and rested?

Actually, it appears “eating at home” is the most popular response. But honestly, I just forgot, mostly because I rarely eat while driving. I get enough food on my clothes as it is.
…
but where’s the option for “Inside my car”? That’s what I do when traveling.
+1. We don’t have any interesting drive-throughs near home, so drive-through would typically just be when travelling.
Rarely, I’d pick up lunch at the McD’s when going back to work after an appointment or something, in which case I’d eat at my desk.
A fun game to play, assuming you have a little spare cash:
I rarely have drives that last through multiple meal times, but even if you do, surely the break helps to keep you alert and rested?
Very true.
Ignoring the “drive-through” question, when I’m doing a long drive by myself (or even with the family), we try to have food prepacked, simply because that means our stops can be at highway rest stops, where the duration of the break is entirely used for eating, stretching legs, bathroom - no time wasted exiting highway, ordering food, waiting for food, etc. As vile as some rest stops can be, they always have picnic tables, open areas to walk, and something resembling bathrooms. I just wish my car’s gas tank was large enough to give me 500-600 miles between fillups
