When you hear "Captain Jack", who do you first think of?

Billy Joel song, ya kid ya!

The leader of the fascist Union Jackshirt movement in Wigs on the Green, by Nancy Mitford.

I think the way you phrased the question lead me to the song. If you asked Who is Captain Jack, I may have said something different.

Jack Sparrow.

I might have thought of Harkness based on Dr. Who, but later Torchwood has kind of removed the “Captain-ness” for me, as it were.

Also, I’ve been playing a lot of Lego Pirates of the Caribbean on Wii…

I feel a great bond of kinship with the what, two? people in this thread who immediately went to the DDR songs…man, now I’m gonna be hunting down DDR songs all morning…

The Billy Joel song.

Billy Joel first (and I don’t like him either)
Captain Jack Sparrow
the booze
Wouldn’t have thought of Harkness if he hadn’t been in the poll

Billy Joel, then Harkness. I wouldn’t have thought of Sparrow as he’s “Captain Jack Sparrow” or “Jack Sparrow”, not “Captain Jack” in my mind.

Jack Harkness, because I hang out on message boards with a lot of Doctor Who fans.

I thought of Captain Jack Sparrow first, but the Billy Joel song would be second. I have no idea who this Jack Harkness is.

Captain Jack Harkness, then Captain Jack Sparrow. There’s one more - the Captain from Master and Commander is also a Captain Jack (Aubrey)(.

I love Captain Jacks, it seems.

Same one for me, too, though I didn’t hear it through DDR.

And, the insane thing, that Captain Jack from DDR, was in the army stationed watching the DDR. Or something like that.

The Billy Joel song, which accompanied me on many jaunts to my special island years ago.

Hey hey Captain Jack
Meet me down by the railroad track
With that weapon in my hand
I’m going to be a fighting man

Yup, this one for me too. R.I.P. Captain Jack!

Heyo! Captain Jack! Bring me back to the railroad track!

The Billy Joel song comes first.

After that, comes a figure from my childhood in New York in the 1960’s: Captain Jack McCarthy, who used to host the old Popeye cartoons and Little Rascals shorts on WPIX, Channel 11.

Billy Joel.

Mmmm. John Barrowman.

This, though nowadays when I hear the song I picture him drinking a bottle of Captain Morgan run with Johnny Depp as Capt. Jack Sparrow on the label, so it’s kind of a mishmosh between answer #2 and #3.

I’ve never seen Torchwood or “Dr. Who”. (Frankly I’ve not even heard of “Torchwood” while I’ve simply managed to avoid seeing more than a few minutes of “Dr. Who”, despite numerous friends who are big fans, because of how much material I’d have to catch up on.)

Bill Joel.
