When you hear "Captain Jack", who do you first think of?

I guess I’m the only one who thought of Stephen Jackson first.

I think of Billy Joel, whiskey and masturbation. Now to check the thread and see if I’m the only old ass person.

P.S. Captain Jack is a mixture of Captain Morgan and Jack Daniels.

Ditto.

And when people mention DDR, the thing I think of is East Germany (Deutsche Democratic Republic) so this post really confused me.

The first thing that popped into my mind was a plague, then within microseconds I realized I was thinking of Captain Tripps from The Stand. My brain was responding to the “Captain” before my eyes got to the Jack part.

Then I thought of the song, though I didn’t remember who it was by until I read the thread.

I didn’t see Pirates 4 so Captain Sparrow is a distant memory for me. Not that Billy Joel isn’t, since I never owned any albums. I always liked what I heard though. I read The Stand every year and it’s my favorite book, which explains the Tripps tripup.

I had/have no idea who Jack Harkness is. Well, now I kinda do, because of the description in the poll.

Ah, a large percentage of you are old asses like me!

This.

  1. Old furry comic by Mike Kazaleh that I really liked.

  2. Rum, as I keep mistaking the name
    for Captain Morgan’s rum

Michael Bolton, b/c of the SNL short.

Yup, another Billy Joel here.

Billy Joel, of course. That’s the first song I remember hearing by him and still a fave.

Nother Billy Joel

Captain “Mad Jack” Percival-much decorated US Navy officer (War of 1812).
He’s buried about 6 miles from my parent’s home.

Mary Jane

You and me, Patch, you and me.

Captain Jack and the Mermaid, by Meg Davis

Then the Billy Joel song.
(I didn’t remember “Mad Jack” Percival until I saw the other post mentioning him.)

Hmm. Caught between the Billy Joel song, the DDR song, and mistaking it for Captain Morgan.

Never heard of Jack Harness, and Jack Sparrow would’ve come in a distant fourth because he’s almost always referred to just as “Jack” or “Captain Jack Sparrow.”

Sparrow, then the Billy Joel song, then Harkness

Kientpoos, the Modoc Indian warrior (aka “Captain Jack”) who held off the Army for months in his lava-bed stronghold in Northern Calilfornia in 1873.

If you ever get a chance to visit Captain Jack’s Stronghold, I highly recommend it.

Captain Jack will get me high tonight.
