When you were a kid, what was your local "horror movie" show?

oops, back in a minute

Science Fiction Theater, San Diego early 60’s. SciFi and Horror. Hosted by “Cosmosina” who soon changed her name to “Moonalisa.” She was the wife of one of the channel 10 guys. Black slinky dress, long black hair, obviously based on Morticia Addams.

didn’t Briggs have a column on drive-in movies in newspaper?

Briggs did a lot of writing. His books are been on Ebay. He had several news columns. Wikipedia gives a list of his work.

That’s why he is such a good movie host. He studies horror movies and is very knowledgeable.

A good movie host is like watching a movie with your favorite Uncle. He’s 15 years older and has seen more movies. He can recommend other movies that you may like.

This is a tangent but I used to love reading books that were just lists of movies you might never have heard of (and commentary about each one) like the VideoHound series and Joe Bob’s books but the internet kind of killed all of that.

I have a copy of “Joe Bob Goes to the Drive-in” that I picked up at a used book sale years ago and re-read it cover-to-cover every once in a while, just for laughs. As far as I know, all the obscure movies he reviewed were actual drive-in fare back in the day. Some were big hits too. “Ozoners” ran a lot of stuff with titles like “Blood Sucking Freaks,” especially in the 1970s and 80s before they all closed up and sold the land for a Wal-Mart.
