When's the last time you drank instant coffee?

Instant coffee should be called anti coffee. It is horrible. Then the aftertaste reminds you of how horrible it was.

I popped into a Starbucks to pick up a couple scones for a friend in the hospital when they were passing out samples of their new at the time instant coffees, I got several each regular and decaf. They both still taste like ass.

Actually the instant coffee of the tea world is actually… instant tea:

Seriously, try to imagine someone saying they prefer it to brewed tea of any kind, even tea bags. Your brain is filled with a form of stunned confusion, because such a thing is almost beyond the realm of human ken, is it not?

Teabags have a coffee equivalent of these really cheap pre-ground packets that are used in drip machines in many offices. Plenty of preground coffees are fine, if not quite as tasty as their freshly ground cousins. But the old, stale, weak, preground coffee you get with cheapo office coffee service is… I think probably a lot like tea bags.

I admit I use tea bags but I usually only drink herbal teas. It’s not real tea anyway, right?

I have probably drunk a grand total of 1 tblspoon of coffee in my life. And I know it was not instant.

Another Brit checking in - drink about 4-5 mugs a day of instant, real coffee only when I can sit down and enjoy it - weekends and days off. Even if I wanted to I couldn’t replace all my cups of instant with real coffee - which I like strong - without wrecking my stomach.

The mistake is to think of them as the same drink - to me they’re both good but completely different. (Actually some instant is truly awful - I drink Percol Fair Trade Freeze Dried Coffee which is completely different to basic Nescafe)

No such product exists. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, no such product exists. Now let’s never speak of this again.

I keep cans of Maxwell House Cafe Mocha, Cafe Vinnea, and Hazelnut Cappuccino in my cabinets all the time.

Also have a jar of Tasters Choice coffee. For when I only want a single cup.

Medaglia D’oro is actually decent.

I’m drinking Nescafe instant right now. I love it. I also have Folgers and it’s okay but I’m hooked on Nescafe.
I hate brewed coffee.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I think it was Davidoff or something they had at the hotel room, that I took on an excursion, wasn’t bad.

Davidoff? The aftershave? That really is desperate.

Have you ever tried aftershave as coffee alternative? You shouldn’t knock things until you try it yourself  (urr… please don’t go actually try it. :stuck_out_tongue: )… btw Davidoff makes all kinds of stuff, I think… at least cigarettes, men’s toiletries & coffee.

Within the last month. I drink it once in a while when the last cretin to use the coffee pot hasn’t cleaned their mess out from it and I want some coffee.

When the coffee pot is clean, it’s actually faster to just use that than wait for the kettle to heat up for the instant. I don’t have anything against instant.

I have to confess my initial disgusted reaction to this

But in the interests of fighting ignorance, I’ve since bought some powdered instant “tea flavoured drink”. I’ll report back once I can bring myself to try it!

I use instant coffee (but good stuff - instant espresso powder - although there IS a jar of Folgers in the house for when I run out) to make “no machine lattes” at home - milk, sugar, instant coffee, almond or vanilla extract - maybe Hershey’s syrup if I need a mocha.

I picked “within the last month,” but that’s only because I was in Australia a month ago, and free instant coffee at the hostel usually beat out insanely expensive good coffee elsewhere. I almost never drink instant at home.

I picked “within the last year”, but I now realize it was more like 14 months ago. We bought some Starbucks Via to take wit us on vacation, because it’s a lot better than the coffee that comes with the hotel room.

When I’m camping and would rather settle for the taste of instant than carry used grounds

This morning - the price difference between instant and filter is too great for my workplace. Having said that, at least we get the pure coffee instant and not the coffee/chicory blend that you get in some workplaces… ::vomit::

Must have been when I lived in Europe. Nescafe is ubiquitous over there and is usually the drink of choice.
