I have been searching for one of these (not sure what they are called). In the 1920’s, a lot of men wore a pin that went through their collar tabs, behind the necktie knot. This pushed the knot outwards, and kept the collor ends pinned back.
I cannot seem to find one…when you search for “tie bars” on ebay, you get those clips that secure the bottom of the tie.
Anybody know where I can buy one?
Sounds like you are talking about “collar bars” (not “tie bars”).
They were worn way after the 20s. I had a few shirts like that in the 50s and 60s.
Foley*s in the 1980s would be a good place to find some.
I kept reading the title as “Pie Tin”.
You can usually pick them up by the handful for a dollar or two each in the jewelry section of your local thrift.
haha i thought that was just me doin’ that
You may have more trouble finding the shirts with collar bar holes, that the bars themselves.
Many collar bars clip onto the edges of the collar and do not require the collar to be perforated.
Well yeah, but . . . that’s just cheating.

I think those are supposed to be worn with clip-on ties.
Am I really the first one to ask “Is it a 1920’s Style Tie Pin”?
Am I really the first one to ask “Is it a 1920’s Style Tie Pin”?
Yes, but just once. In 1960. For about 20 minutes.
I was giddy, because I owned a 1920’s pie tin…sigh

Some of those are big with the body piercing crowd.
Well now I know what the hell those holes were in my dad’s collars. He didn’t dress nice for work or anything, but he did have some ‘suit’ type shirts, and they always had those slits in them, along with the cuff-link holes. He never used the collar-tie thing that I noticed, but I seem to recall playing with old jewelry of my grandmother’s when I was young, and I am thinking collar-ties were in there, from my grandpa. Huh.
Edit…after I saw that last link, I realize I saw LOTS of those at my grandma’s, but always thought they were kilt pins.
I now wonder what the hell I was really thinking of, sort of a 5-inch’ish chain with two ends on which were screw-in knobs of one sort or another.
