I like the look of the tall Edwardian collars. Unfortunately, these are out of style-most men prefer the spread style collars today.
I haven’t seen anything on the web-anybody know a source?
I did a Google search and this website was the second result returned for “edwardian collar shirt men”. Is that what you are looking for or did you mean something else?
Not exactly - an Edwardian collar is more like this. It takes a certain kind of look to pull it off.
I think that shirt is separate from the collar. It was more economical to wear the shirt for several days and have a number of starched collars that would attach to the collarless shirt. Here’s a shirt you might like, http://www.darcyclothing.com/shop/shirts/stiff-fronted-collarless-evening-shirt-sh229.html, and here’s your collar. http://www.darcyclothing.com/shop/collars/double-round-stiff-collar-co120.html. This is a UK site, so you’ll pay some shipping if you’re US, but they look pretty reputable.
You would be better off to google ‘bespoke tailor yourhometown’ - there isn’t much point in making the (great!) statement of wearing an Edwardian shirt if it isn’t going to fit you perfectly. Most places will insist on a 3 shirt minimum. Here in Toronto, that would probably be 3 x $150 plus tax, but you may get a better deal.
Then again, for something as unusual as Edwardian collars, they may charge extra.
Constipated?
Which reminds me of a limerick:
An important young man in Quebec
Had to welcome the Duchess of Teck
So he bought for a dollar
A very high collar
To save himself washing his neck.
Or this.
I have gotten a number of shirts and collars from Gentlemans Emporium, but I think that in this case, a “Clifton” collar from River Junction Trade Co might fit the bill (once you get the appropriate shirt to attach it to, of course.) Link.
