Ok, so I did a search with the SD search enging to find such black lists, but nothing turned up for me.
So, now I am putting it to the crowd. I am looking for a list of IP’s and websites that are known to put spyware on people’s computers. It is my intention to put this list in my router so that nothing from these websites can infiltrate my computer later on.
Since such programs often have political biases, these companies would rather not release their black-list for fear of exposing their bias. Furthermore -
Wait, I read this too fast, and thought you were talkiing about software that blocks certain pages. Whoops. Here is a real answer. http://blocklist.org/
It is a software that manages different black lists (the developers of the software maintain a lot of different lists, depending on category, but you can edit/import you own too). The black lists can then be exported to a variety of widely used Firewalls and I guess you could export it to just a list of IPs for inputting into your router.
Replacing the (normally empty) hosts file with the one from that page works really well on my Windows XP and Windows 98 machines at home, but not at all on my Windows 2000 machine at work (probably because of the unusual network set-up there).
Um, more like run the program, period, but yes. I maintain that PG2 is a superior product for newbies, rather then configuring lists. Of course, it sounds like you are look for something more indeph, but I couldn’t tell from the OP, and still, it’s a great program.
Please, for the love of Zod, people, express something about your knowledge of the tech in the OP. It would really help, I think. I basic description of your OS, and failed solutions would do it, I think. Sorry for the junior modding, but it is the way I feel.
