I’m looking for a list of “not-so-good” websites to block at my company’s proxy server. Sites like gator.com (and all its phone-home listeners), abcsearch.com, webshots.com, and so on. So far the lists I’ve found list not only these sites, but practically every single ad server and banner server known to man. I’m really not interested in blocking all banner ads, but only those sites that actually try to get you to install comet cursor, or try to hijack your homepage or some other nasty trick. Has anyone compilied or seen such a list?
My guess is that it’d be quicker to make a list of sites on the Internet that don’t have spyware, and only allow access to those 
… but other people have had the same idea as you. You can Google “hosts file” to find people’s lists, though those generally seem to be more geared toward blocking banner ads.
