Where can I find a copy of David Letterman's opening monologue...

… from his first show back after the terrorist bombings? The CBS website seems to only have the latest one, do they archive?

Nah, no worries guys. Found it.

I can’t find anything but a summary of the show on that link.

There is a link there to an (audio) realplayer file.

If you want to read the monologue rather than listening to an audio file, try this.

I don’t vouch for the accuracy of the transcript, since it’s by a Letterman fan posting to Usenet rather than an official CBS transcript.

A transcript of the speech really does it no justice. LEtterman didn’t say anything that was, in and of itself, groundbreaking of brilliant. What made the speech (and Leno’s last night, too) worthwhile was the emotion evident in his delivery, and how sad and hurt he was at what had happened to his beloved city.

Slight hijack, and for that I apologize. I heard that Leno’s monologue was quite impressive as well. I’m having trouble locating the transcripts for that one. Anyone out there get me a link for Leno’s?
thanks,
Rufus

I would be very interested in Leno’s monolouge too.

They actually do archive the monologues on the CBS site, if you wish to see it.

The way the site is set up, you have to click DTV guide on the lower right corner, the on the next page click on monologues and then click on the date September 17, 2001.

Or Brad Hill’s account can also be found here also.
There’s thousands of reasons why I want a video capture card in my PC. Here is one more.

The thought I had from the transcript was a nomination of Choteau as Greatest City (town) in the world.

Remember the biblical story of the widow’s mite?
