Where can I find a Wii?

So last weekend I went to a gathering of geeks and one of them brought his Wii, where in I was converted and addicted to it. I’ve not owned a console since the Super Nintendo, but this one brought me back in. It was just too much fun.

As such, obviously, they seem to be sold out everywhere. I’m eyeing Ebay but I’d like to go to a vendor directly, does anyone know if Nintendo is just struggling to meet demand, or is manufacturing halted for some reason… or should I just call stores and see about pre-ordering one?

Engadget and gizmodo (www.gizmodo.com) are reporting that there’s a rumor Best Buys across the country may get Wiis in stock on Sunday. Not confirmed, but it’d certainly be worth calling your local Best Buy on Sunday.

I bought one myself from the local Craigslist. Definitely don’t pay too much though, IMHO. You’ll feel stupid for paying a premium in 3 months when they’re completely ubiquitous. It’s already happened with the PS3. I can only imagine how the first buyers feel now.

I bought one off some dude locally as a bundle. If you’re planning to get an extra controller (+nunchuck) and at least one game, it’s probably worth it to pay a little more for a package. Extra controllers are apparently as hard to find as the consoles themselves ATM.

I don’t know if you’ll need another nunchuck at first. A lot of the multiplayer games only use the remote itself.

Yes and no. Most of Wii Sports can be played with only the remote, though you’ll miss out on Boxing. A handful of the Super Monkey Ball party games need the nunchuck, so you’d miss out on those. Same goes for Rayman Raving Rabbits, IIRC. You can forget about Madden multiplayer too.

Still, if you can’t get one or afford one it’s not like you’re screwed.

Seems to be pleanty around here. If you get desperate and dont mind paying the additional shipping, I wouldn’t mind buying one and shipping it to you.

Apparently it’s in the circulars for the upcoming week, so it will be confirmed when those are mailed. And it’s actually Circuit City, Target AND Best Buy. Probably your best bet to get one, if you’re willing to go early in the cold.
