Where can I find free simple, basic video clip editing software (short .mpg files from Sony DSC-H55 Digital Cybershot? I am trying to edit light into a short clip of our Granddaughter stating to crawl.
I have tried the following that will work on Pics vs Video Clips:
Windows Movie Maker, works cropping videos vs adding light.
PhotoBucket, free ver. works editing Pics.
Sony PMB that came with the Sony DSC-H55 Camera might do the job if I could understand the software. Help!
Photoshop 7, works good with Pics but I have not seen any video editing options.
I hate the word “Free” and my ref is a small editor out there in applications, etc vs a Pro Ver.
Thanks ducati ! I will follow-up. I’m glad this is not major clip but a first inside which caused not enough light.
I finally contacted Sony with this question below and was told No! This has been a surprise from the levels of experience I have contacted. They would have known to have extra light. I have always had success adding light to pictures.
“Can light be edited into mpg video clips using different PMB software than what came with my Sony DSC-55 Cyber-shot Camera or other software?”
Ducati, My follow-up is quicker than expected. Did you have anti virus software monitoring when you downloaded your Video Pad Software? McAfee Red Flagged the download, saying it detected too many harmful devices (tracking cookies, spyware, Etc).
I froze due just reloading from trying to download a free video editor. It was free but the download sent other software not requested (as a Driver Update) and required it to be registered. I canceled out but it had deleted at least 8 drivers from the Device Manager. At that point I felt I could not trust the computer as being clean of Etc and formatted and reloaded. I try to run downloads and trial software on a 2nd computer which is good and bad as computers have been to me since 1990.
The bottom Line Is Nothing Is Free! I can say I have used plenty shareware since 1990 but less w/o problems from about 2000.
Are you familiar with gimp-2.8.4? It was recommended as good shareware that might edit my video clip. You know I tried it and too late, “After The Computer Tech Left”. He works at lightning speed and probably missed something. I c/n visualize what he missed to get a corrupt file error (when I try run). I’ll try it again when he tells me who he downloaded it from since there are different Ver/Sites. His site was his high point of it being safe. Plus, his download was not in a package, as the one I tried today.
Free, I could afford to edit some Still Pictures With Voice that are .mpg files as videos. Over the years I have turned the 03 Sony DSC 72 for the best Pic in the voice mode vs video. It gives you two pics per shot, one full and no voice and one about 75% in size with voice or sound but w/n rotate if needed.
My last option will be to call 2-3 Photography Centers (Wal-Mart, Etc). I know you like challenges!!!
I have absolutely no experience with the program, but maybe it’s worth a try? From the wikipedia article on it, it seems it should be ideal for people new to editing and home movie-making…
