The deadline to sign up is Oct. 1. I am trying to learn exactly what the ACA (AKA Obamacare) involves, I I do not want to read the whole law. Where can I obtain a concise summary of what it involves, and what is required?
I don’t know where to send you for a summary, but I do know that the deadline is NOT October 1. Sign up STARTS on October 1, and you have until March 2014 to sign up. So you have some time.
In fact, you can’t sign up before October 1. On October 1, the exchanges will open, and you can go to your state’s exchange to find out policy and premium information. Until then, it’s extremely hard to get real numbers on anything; I’ve looked.

It will be implemented differently in different states. I would start by contacting your state department of public health. They should have the information you need.
