I found this board because I liked www.allnurses.com so much and all of the fascinating “inside” nursing information. I did a “google” search and found another Vbullitin board for swingers which I found fascinating. However, I’m sure that there are other fascinating boards for policemen, scientists, Dr’s and others which would be equally fascinating. However, I’ve been unable to locate anyplace that LISTS the available Vbullitin boards (including the companies homepage). I emphasize Vbullitin because I find its format to be so intuitively useable (unlike what you see on usenet via Google ect).
First of all, check your spelling: VBulletin. That should help.
If you like a message board format more than usenet (which I believe is called a “newsgroup”), you might find that other boards which use something different, but similar to VBulletin are just as easy to get used to. Just google for “message board” and perhaps also include a few words describing a topic of interest to you. There are also email “lists” you can subscribe to for some topics, where all the discussion is contained within your email client. You may or may not like this style.
Having said that, any general discussion you might want to have will probably fit into our MPSIMS board. See the forum rules for exceptions, of course.
Welcome to the SDMB. I recommend that you don’t click the threads that say TMI, and don’t annoy the mods. Have fun!
in fact I like the www.allnurses.com format even better since it shows how many people are in a forum at a given time AND allows for the editing of posts. I learn stuff about nursing there that you wouldn’t imagine. Stuff, that can only be ascertained in an environment where over 30K professionals frankly exchange views and experiences. I have often wished that this format could be applied to doctors, attorneys, cops, and scientists. It seems that every profession has a “public face” and a semi-secret “way things are actually done” which few people will discuss in everyday conversation (consider The Shield for an illustration of this concept as it applies to the police). In fact, I think it would be fascinating concept for a book.
