After a few killer roles and an Oscar nomination in the mid-nineties, Mira Sorvino seems to have vanished from mainstream movies. What’s the deal? Is she just taking some time off, or is there more to it? The last big role I remember seeing her in was “Summer of Sam” in the late nineties.
I think she just had a baby.
She’s had two children; one in November 2004 and one in May 2006. So I’m guessing she’s been keeping busy.
She has been keeping busy: making movies.
Her IMDB listing since 2004:
Reservation Road (2007) (filming) … Ruth
Leningrad (2006) (post-production) … Kate Davis
Covert One: The Hades Factor (2006) (TV) … Rachel Russel
Human Trafficking (2005) (TV) … Kate Morozov
The Final Cut (2004) … Delila
She’s listed as the lead female in all three completed projects and in Leningrad, so it hasn’t been cameo roles or minor appearances either.
Not just a nomination, she won the award.
Her career has been about average for a moderately well-known actress of her age:

Face it: Hollywood doesn’t particularly like actresses to get old. By their late thirties they are usually restricted to minor roles or minor movies.
