Masters Degree, here I come!
On a side note, I’ve been wanting to ask this for a while: I just found out I can take the GMAT or the GRE. Does anyone have an opinion which is the preferred one to take?
E3
Go 'Yotes!
I’m not a grad, but I am teaching there now…
Quite a McGill collection here!
Like matt_mcl, Ms Macphisto, and anv-la1979, I’m a graduate of McGill University.
BSc, 2003.
And matt_mcl, congratulations on your acceptance into grad school! Best of luck!
I didn’t do any work with the University Players, so no luck there. If you went to theatre parties, I’m sure we probably bumped into each other (sorry about that), and you may have been to my house (I used to live at 39 Fletcher, up by the hospital). Um… I directed Steve Martin’s play WASP for my Senior Directing Project. Does any of this ring any bells?
I forgot to mention, I did my junior year of college at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Har Hatzofim campus, at the Rothberg School for International Students).
Any other Hebrew U/Rothberg alumni out there?
Hinds Community College, Raymond MS, 2002-2003.
Started at UT Austin, graduated from Southwest Texas State University (now called Texas State University) at San Marcos.
BBA with concentration in Management Information Systems.
I’m fairly sure that’s where Labdad told me he went to school. He’s also from that part of Atlanta. In case you missed it in the HS thread, I went to Tower’s HS and also Rowland Elementary in the general vicinity.
Bradford College
Haverhill, MA
B.A., Creative Arts, 1983 (interdisciplinary major – I concentrated on creative writing, literature, and theatre)
Bradford closed down at the end of the 2000-2001 academic year. Teeny, tiny college with no endowment to speak of. There were 30 of us in my graduating class. I had the time of my life there and wouldn’t change it for the world!
Simmons College, Boston, M.Ed., 1986
Middle/Secondary School English and Drama
Grove City College, BS Electrical Engineering, Class of '94. Got about halfway through my MBA at Penn State before I stopped for personal reasons.
I doubt many Dopers have heard of GCC.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, class of 2004 BS in Biomedical Engineering.
I know there are at least one or two other RPI alums on the boards.
Southern Methodist University Dallas, TX
B.B.A. Business, Accounting Major, Psychology Minor
Graduated 1988
I’ve yet to meet another woman who graduated with a business degree from SMU and is pursuing a career, but would love to do so. It’s a rather elitist and expensive school, but I went on scholarship, so don’t hate me (My mother was a secretary in the law school, so my tuition was free.) Beautiful campus, excellent professors and curriculum, which I felt were wasted on the rich kids who attended. (Exceptions abound, I’m sure.)
New York University, 1988-89
University of Georgia, 1989-93 (Computer science major)
tremorviolet: Go dawgs! Woof woof woof! I expected to see more UGA grads here.
Me too. (Not free, but a scholarship)
I have yet to meet any exceptions.
Whatsamatta U
University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, 1986-1990
Double major in English and Psychology (twice the unemployability!)
Go Blugolds! Whatever the hell that is.
Another UCLA Bruin here. English, 1991.
Hey, my brother graduated a year after you did. And I thought it was “We’re the Fighting Missionaries, we’re always on top!!”
Bradford is one of the colleges I applied (and was accepted) to; I visited the campus in early '89. I had no idea it closed down! I remember that it was, indeed, very tiny – that was part of its appeal. I think they lost me when they mentioned the underground tunnels that were used to get around campus during snowstorms. I like snow just fine, but they had a need for underground tunnels?
Funnily enough, I was just talking about Bradford on Sunday: my old college roommate visited me for the weekend, and while we were on the Metro coming back from D.C. we were talking about the other schools we applied to (my friend almost didn’t wind up at our college). I mentioned Bradford not only for its size and the snow thing, but because that was where I first heard the New England use of the word “wicked:” during the visit, my mom and I sat in on a class and the teacher told everyone that the upcoming test would be “wicked easy.”
Macomb Community College 1999-2001 - No degree earned
Western Michigan University 2001-2005 (I’m out in April) - Secondary Education: English/Political Science
I’m looking at Michigan State and Wisconsin-Madison for post-grad, but I need to work at least two years before I do that.
