Where do I go for Washington State ticket information

Exactly.

In Oregon that is not an option. You cannot get a separate driver’s license and a Real ID.

Did they tell you what the ticket was for? Anyway to verify the ticket is for you and not somebody with the same/similar name?

Sorry you have to go through all this red tape.

Brian

Oregonian here and I went through something similar regarding a ticket there. I agree, call the Wash Dept of Licensing. First time I called, it said they were too busy to connect me, but I called an hour later and got through.

My understanding & summary:

  • If otherwise qualified and setting aside the Driver’s License problems, OP is eligible to be issued a Real ID immediately.
  • Only a single state-issued Real ID may be valid to a US person. When a newer Real ID becomes valid/issued, the old ones are null & void in the system. OP is not yet at this stage or in the system that is Real ID.
  • States that issue combined Real ID & DLs (most/all?) require fulfillment of BOTH components prior to issuing: OPs DL problem is not an impediment to getting a Real ID if they forego seeking the DL component. If writing a check takes care of all of this, sucky as it is, it seems the way to go.

In short, OP’s DL is suspended or invalid and they have to clear it up before they can be issued a new one. This is made harder by the States’ DL sharing. The combined issuing of DL+ Real ID is not required. If, for example, OP had domestic airline travel or a visit to a secure facility planned but could not foresee a way of clearing up the DL in time, it seems they could get a (non DL) Real ID issued for those security needs and fix Washington’s issues later.

I don’t blame @Czarcasm for pursuing the DL&RealID one bit, I like driving, too. But given your unique, to me, path of migration from Guam toward card carrying citizenship in our country documented in recent months  , I’d sure be eager to finally get my Real ID now, get in the system and see about the DL later. You might have to take behind the wheel tests, written, get new glasses, etc before they give you a DL.

Once again: I cannot get a Real ID that is separate from my Drivers License in Oregon. My Oregon Drivers license has not been suspended, but they still require that I clear up the Washington ticket before a Real ID/Drivers License is issued.

This just is not possible.

I checked and Washington does have speed cameras, mostly in work zones. It makes sense that it was a camera ticket because A)the OP doesn’t remember getting pulled over, B) as a civil infraction it went to collections instead of a license suspension and warrant and C) it is more likely they didn’t have the correct out of state address to send it to.

It seems possible to so. Nondriving children, the elderly/infirmed, Amish, visual and other disabled, the incarcerated, judicially ineligible (judge revoked) people have good reasons to hold Real IDs without DLs.

The question is, can I hold a Oregon non-drivers license Real ID and an Oregon Drivers License at the same time?

I think the question of whether one can hold both is the real humdinger but I’ll bet they don’t allow it.

Oregon’s criteria for issuance/renewal of Driver’s Licenses is harder to read from here and the State may simply have a policy of disallowing the practice: If you’re eligible for both, they move you into the higher-privileged Real DL. And it’s hard to think of reason for them not to, unless you’re running from fines in another State  For illustration, Oregon & my own Illinois issues non-Real DLs to undocumented persons and probably will continue to do so so there will be two forks.

I’m surprised that the Wash fines are valid enough to disallow what amounts to a renewal but that the DL is clear until it expires. I’ve found that fines are collected more aggressively.
