Where do I go for Washington State ticket information

My attempt to get an Oregon Real ID was stalled because there is apparently some sort of ticket in the system in Washington State. All I have to go on is the ticket number-no “type of citation”, no county, no city, no date. This is all the lady at the counter told me when she said I had to clear this up to get my new ID. Unfortunately, it looks like the info she didn’t give me is the info I need to find out about this ticket and pay it. Where do I go to get this information? Any info I might have had went up in the fire, and I don’t recall even getting the ticket.

What did the Washington BMV say when you contacted them?

Automated message telling me that everyone is so busy that they won’t even let me wait, and I can’t even leave a callback number.

I doubt the DMV would have the info anyway. Contact the Washington State Dept. of Licensing. You can get a copy of your driving record, including any citations, from them.

It seems that (disregarding the time delay and $15 fee), they want me to get the info from the Washington State DMV closest to my Washington State address, all this to get my complete driving record. Is there any place online for an out-of-state dude to just plug in the infraction number and get info as to what I did, what I owe and who to give the moolah to?

I can’t believe that that this saga is continuing. Best of luck.

Hey, on the plus side, it looks like they will accept all the gathered info for my Real ID…once I get past the Washington ticket debacle.

Can you look it up here? This is for King County, but maybe it includes infractions for the entire state: Citations or Tickets | King County District Court

Or try searching here by your name: https://dw.courts.wa.gov/index.cfm?fa=home.namesearch&terms=accept&flashform=0

I went up the line, got to Kelso County Court, which looked it up and directed me to Lewis County District Court (live person, because their website demanded that I put in the amount owed), who stated that it was a ticket from 2023 and had already gone to a collection agency. Got a hold of the collection agency and was told I owe $445.63. BTW, that King County ticket site told me to go to the county that issued the ticket.

I’m skeptical that an outstanding ticket in another State is an actual impediment to OP’s ID quest in Oregon. An arrest warrant might do it, though.

I will counter your skepticism with the fact that Oregon refused to issue my Real ID unless that Washington speeding ticket was cleared up.

I’m not skeptical you were told that.

Edit: possibly a DL vs ID (only) distinction.

This, on the other hand, worked like a dream. A little too late but a dream none the less, that I will file away for future reference.

Do you remember getting the ticket?

Long ago, I was a resident of WA and got a speeding ticket in OR. I was a very poor person back then so I called the county I got the ticket in and asked what would happen if I didn’t pay the ticket. They said I would lose my driving privileges in OR for 3 years (or something like that). I was A-OK with that and didn’t pay.

Fast-forward a bit when I go into renew my WA driver’s license. They said “nope, you have an outstanding ticket in OR you must pay first”. So, I am here to attest that I had the same experience, just backwards in which state the ticket was accrued. From my recollection, they said that Idaho was also part of the shared agreement.

Luckily, my ticket did not go to collections and only had like a $5 late fee attached to it.

No, I do not.

It’s probably a drivers’ license requirement to clear up any motor vehicle red marks in other cooperating states and mostly unrelated to OP’s larger Oregon Real ID residency issues. I still think that a debt in another State does not affect residency and related identification cards & paper in one’s lawfully established State.

Were you even in the area at the time? Could it have been an automated ticket?

I don’t know.

My driver’s license is a Real ID as well (I think you can still get a non-Real ID version of the driver’s license as well). I was assuming OP was getting a driver’s license/Real ID combo and it was the license portion that hit the snag.
