In a zip-lock bag on the counter. I bake my own bread, and usually make two loaves at a time - I take one to my mother and keep one for myself. I usually bake on Friday night or Saturdays and a loaf will last me all week. Any leftover bread gets fed to my dogs.
I also keep mine in the refrigerator. On occasion (if it’s a hot summer, I keep it in the freezer and make my sandwiches for work on frozen bread so they are still cold when they’ve defrosted at lunchtime! (Sounds crazy but it works!))
I have several loaves in the freezer, and the current loaf lives on the counter. I keep extra of everything around, pretty much. I hate using the last of the bread (or whatever) and not having a new one to replace it right away.

We usually have a loaf in the fridge and one waiting in the freezer for its turn to be placed in the fridge and then eaten. We don’t go through it all that fast, but its SO annoying to run out of bread, so we make sure we have extra!
I also have a bread drawer, flodnak but that only keeps the current loaf.
I’ve tried to freeze it but it just doesn’t freeze well for me. What’s the secret? I’m always running out of bread and would like to have some on hand.
We keep the bread on the counter by the toaster oven.
For the Boyfriend:
one loaf whole wheat,
one package plain pita loaves,
one package english muffins,
various half-loaves of Italian or French bread.
(He loves bread products, as you can see. This makes quite a pile. I should probably have my dad build us a big ole bread box.)
For me:
one loaf Pepperidge Farm Seven Grain Lightstyle Bread.
Boyfriend goes through a lot more bread than I do. I keep bread and carb ingestion to a minimum, sigh.
Do you not have Bed, Bath & Beyond or Linens and Things near where you live?
I have a beautiful bread box. And I actually manage to keep the bread in there. Most of the time.
Is it just me? I buy a lot at time so I put it in the ice box. If I put it in the fridge, it makes the bread dry quickly–. Then I defrost it on the counter.
lately my mum has taken to keeping the bread in a drawyer full of knick knacks and socks and stuff. She thinks I don’t know where the hiding place is. It is all to stop me eating the bread 'cos for some reason you aren’t allowed to eat the bread. (isn’t that what it is for? )
Anyway I know where it is, but I’m on a diet now and the late night cheese sandwiches aren’t good for me? Aren’t I a saint? (I wish the sdmb had an angel smiley!)
