Where do you report shady business practices?

I worked, briefly, for a company that had rather shady sales practices. They weren’t a total scam, but clearly promised more than they delivered (more than just normal salesman exaggeration) and lied about some other fundamental things about how their business worked.

I had ethical concerns during my time there, and it got worse the more I knew.

So if I wanted to file a complaint of some sort as a witness, is there a government bureau that handles this sort of thing? I know the BBB does this sort of thing, but they don’t have any sort of legal sway, right?

Other states will have the same service, usually attached to the Attorney General’s office. Try Dept. of Consumer Protection or Dept. of Consumer Affairs.
