Today we had some unexpced snow. This caused some accidents that caused backups. One of those backups affeced me.
At 8:04am this morning I was in Interstate 195 Westbound having just gotten on at Great Adventure. While on the on ramp I see traffic is at a stand still. We move sloly and six minutes later we pass a bus on the shoulder and 3 cars on the left shoulder with cops talking to the drivers. I continue down having 50 minutes to go about 20 miles. A few minutes later I am at a dead stop. I-195 is a divided highway here with 2 lanes in each direction, Listening to the news I hear that there are accidents and Rt 1 and I-295 both roads that you can get to off I-195. Two hours later I finaly get 18 miles down the road and see a long line of cars waiting to get onto 295. The only reason traffic is flowing here is there are 4 lanes going into trenton plus the two lanes going into 295.
Why couldn’t the police close down one lane of I-195 East Bound, have the DOT drop cones to seperate the lane and make East Bound 1 lane and allow those people not heading to 295 to cross over and travel at lets say 35 miles an hour down to Trenton where the road ends. If you need to get off any place else then you have to stay with the traffic going to 295. This would have helped in a few ways
-
The people going to 295 could be moved to the left lane of i-195 westbound making the right lane of I-195 Westbound open for people going to all the other exits
-
With the removal of the cars going to Trenton the traffic jam would not be as far back
-
I would have arrived for the 9am session before 10:20am
