My tell for Romania is the old men in horse-drawn wagons. Always!
I got one that looked like it could be in the United States, but not quite. The street signs on the mountainous road were like American ones (yellow diamond-shaped caution signs) rather than European-style ones. However, the right lane of the four-lane highway looked too narrow for US standards, and there was no solid white line on the far right. It turned out to be Tamaulipas, Mexico.
The first one I got country right away. Cherry blossoms and a sign in Japanese.
Next one, no clue. Do you have to determine only country or specific location?
If you’re on a highway between two cities, you’re not really anywhere unless you are move along.
If it’s country only, then cool. If you also have to figure out what city/town, then I think you have to configure so that you can only start in a town.
As it is. I liked it a lot.
You can do that if you like, one of the check boxes beside stealth says “urban” - but that removes all the fun of the endless Scandinavian forests!
First one: dreary industrial neighborhood with signs in Japanese but no Western writing to tell me where in Japan. Turns out to be Sugasawa.
Second one is a pretty riverside view out in the countryside. No clues other than the traffic, and plates are all obscured. It looks central European and my first wild guess is southern Germany. Eventually I get to a sign with words on it which, luckily for me, is the town name: Câineni in Romania.
My third one…has no roads, only rocks and snow and a shitload of penguins. Fuck me, I’m in Antarctica. Half Moon Island, to be precise.
This game is awesome.
First one: appears to be a one-lane blacktop in the middle of nowhere. A few clicks later and I see the back of a sign. Spin around and it’s a distance marker of some sort. The last words are blurred but seem Dutch?
Nope, I was in France.
Second: two-lane blacktop with a minivan parked to the side and a SUV under some trees. Seems I’m in SE Asia, 20 somethings from Phak Hai. Judging by the signs on the shops down the road, I’m in Thailand.
Third: two-lane blacktop in the middle of nowhere. Up the road is a sign reading “SENOJI SODYBA”. Past that is a sign pointing toward Micionys, 3 somethings away. I try going there but the view doesn’t go very far so back to the blacktop. Further up are a couple of bus stops and a few houses. Like ** Dorjän**, I’m now in the Lithuanian countryside.
