Have I missed a sticky? I notice that old threads are resurrected recently without the usual screeching complaints. Have I missed something or is the world coming to an end as the anti-zombie thread folk believe?
I think I’ll wait a few months before replying to this thread. Hopefully, everyone else will, too.
Oops! I screwed up already.
Well, back in August/September there was a major re-organization and some revision of Rules and Guidelines and Etiquette. There wasn’t much that changed, it was primarily reorganizing and comnbining material that had been scattered through a dozen stickies.
The topic of zombie threads was covered in the Guidelines, see Post #4, and what is probably the relevant change for you was:
In short, the reaction to resurrections depends on the forum. In forums like the Pit, MPSIMS, and IMHO, there is still fairly active disapproval of resurrections. And note that this is a Guideline, a matter of Etiquette, rather than a hard-and-fast rule, so even in those forums, there can be individual circs.
I am happy for the easing of the reins. It allows some discussion to continue regarding some rare topics that wouldn’t really have too much input in new threads (IMHO). I recently in the past month resurrected an old thread because I thought I had something to add to it. And now this morning, after checking my subscribed threads, I found a month old thread ressurected with a valid question along with a valid answer. As long as the topic is still timely I see nothing wrong with keeping the topic open.
