I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about it. Native casinos seem to be popping up everywhere.
In my travels I have never seen one
I recently took a trip from Detroit, Michigan, to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and on the way I must have seen about 10 of them.
This is actually a difficult question to answer.
The reason is that Indian gaming didn’t go from nothing to high-end casinos, it was progression. It started out as bingo parlors, and had a few setbacks along the way. I’d guess the first one was little more than a bingo parlor which added a few slot machines once they were legal, which is hardly what most of us consider casinos. Take the proceeds and reinvest back into the business until you finally have a large hotel/casino/rv park.
Here is a short history.
