Where is the Mar. 13 Office/30 Rock Thread (Spoilers)?

I thought these were both pretty decent episodes.

The Office was at its most cringe worthy and I had to watch it in small pieces. Sending 5 discounts equalling 50% to your largest client is classic Michael. I’m not sure why David was happy even when the customer liked the idea. Of course anyone would like a 50% discount, but the paper company goes broke. The knock knock jokes were silly but fun.

I prefer 30 Rock. It was good to see Liz’s Princess Leigh imitation again to try to get out of jury duty. How does she get picked so often? I have never been picked in my life. It was kind of weird to see Dr. Spaceman beside a knock out colleague, and never make any mention nor notice of it. Tracy Morgan is hosting SNL this Saturday.

The Office was defintiely at it’s cringiest… I think that David was happy because Blue Cross decided to buy all of their supplies through DM, not just the paper they’d been buying. The 50% off is only for the year, but w/ the massive increase in volume, it’ll definitely make the company a nice profit.

I really liked 30 Rock last night too. So many great quotes and moments… “Look at my funcooker!” and HITLER had me dying.

I loved watching Michael try to deal with the fallout as it went from horrible to great back to bad again. The struggle was painful.

The scene where Dwight and Michael were yelling out their inventions (“Horse Boat! Horse Boat!”) was (I thought) one of the funniest ever.

Two very solid, very funny episodes.
The Golden Ticket idea, along with the costume, just utterly exemplifies Michael Scott. And it really shows how far the show has come, because that’s something that flows so perfectly from his character, but is something totally unlike anything David Brent (from the British version) would ever do.

The Office was definitely cringeworthy, but also hilarious. The pauses before Michael allowed the blame for the screw-up to land on Dwight, and before Dwight accepted David Wallace’s congratulations were a couple of examples of great comic timing.

One of my favorite moments:
Michael (to Darryl): You idiot!
Darryl: Start over.
Michael: Sir, …

I loved 30 Rock even more. The Scrabble tiles, Frank’s repeated attempts to go pants-less, Kenneth’s ideas of wielding power (“All menstruating women go home right now!”), the crazy arsonist lady, I was in stitches the whole time.

And Jenna’s attempt to go without sleep, until Dr. Spaceman tried to beat her to sleep (that’s what she said) so she wouldn’t die like a lab rat. Except he missed and kayoed Jack instead.

Hm. I thought The Office was one of the weakest episodes in a while. Was I the only one who saw the twist coming before the first commercial break? David is a horrible leader if he can’t even get those two knuckleheads to stop their yammering about their stupid ideas.

I agree, the little moments (e.g. “Start over”) were good, but the overall story was beyond lame. It’s the same sort of twist that sitcoms have been using for 30 years. yawn.

What did Liz say on 30 Rock when the judge said she was fit for jury duty? It sounded like “Charlie who?” or something…or was I hallucinating.

Agreed. Not too many laughs last night.

All the management at Dundar Miflin has pretty much demonstrated themselves to be pretty incompetant. Whether people get promoted or fired seems largly a matter of luck or circumstances.

The problem with this episode is that Michael has once again cross the line from merely a socially incompetant over-eager buffoon to a despicable human being. A couple episodes like this and he can start to really become unlikable as a character.

Her personal assistant changed her voter registration on her because she ithought Liz told her to be more proactive (what she actually told her was Buy more Proactiv).

I also loved when Dwight dropped in a well-timed “That’s what she said” and got a huge laugh from everybody. Great stuff.

Oh, and Kevin… “Boobs.”

I hope I didn’t step on anyone’s toes by starting ‘The Office’ thread last week; I just liked last weeks so much and was eager to share it!

I actually liked this episode too. Last week’s high points were having to do with how “likable”, (considering the character’s track record), Michael was. I knew something good was going to come out of the situation as soon as he blamed Dwight. So maybe I was just prepared.

“Put your heart out there like that, it’s liable to just turn into this blackened carbon brick. It has barbeque sauce of shame and rage! AND TWO HOT PEOPLE, WITH A PERFECT RELATIONSHIP, WOULD NOT UNDERSTAND THAT!”

Oh, anyone notice Wallace’s is on a lot more this season?

They still make him money.

Didn’t like this episode (of The Office). Michael was just being way too much of a jerk–right from the beginning, interfering with Pam’s phone call. And while I *expect *Dwight to be a jerk, I honestly expected him to tell David right away that the golden ticket idea wasn’t his. (It could perhaps then blow up in Michael’s face in some *other *way.) I thought Dwight’s exaggeratedly self-important sense of honor would prevent him from taking the credit.

“Barbeque sauce of shame and rage” was great.

What’s the deal with Ryan? Is he still employed by Dunder-Mifflin? I thought he’d just taken a vacation in Thailand, but he’s been away for months.

I don’t know.
I think about Michael not even being able to let Toby take the blame for the pot/salad. I don’t know if he could go through with it in the long run. I know, I’m reaching…

I guess I’m in the minority who thought this was one of the funnier The Office episodes. Oh well. It didn’t really have the classic The Office appeal and comedy but it was funny in a sort of different way.

Technically, he hasn’t been employed at D-M since his arrest. He was back as a temp for a while when Pam was in New York.

Office: good
30 Rock: stupid

The judge said report to Jury Room B and Liz said (according to closed captioning) Charlie What Now?

It was a mediocre 30 Rock. A mediocre week for sitcoms all over.

I’ve taken The Office off my record list. Ever since Michael curled into the fetal position at one of the other branches, I just can’t be bothered. There is just a limit to how much of my life I’ll let a show waste.
