The Office - 1/20/10

I’m only starting this thread so I can complain about what a crappy episode this was. A month off and this is the best their writers can come up with? Creed had the best lines, and half of them were bleeped. What a crapfest.

This episode seemed really out there. Unbelievable characters behaving in even more unbelievable ways. I don’t think I laughed once.

I find Michael Scott unwatchable nowadays. He used to be a somewhat lovable idiot. Now he’s just a stupid, sometimes mean idiot. This was a lame episode.

You gotta give him a little credit for the apology to Holly “via” Kevin and Creed.

I thought the resolution jokes and Michael prepping for the big day with (I’m drawing a blank on the receptionist’s name) was pretty funny.

It was written by Carrie Kemper, Ellie Kemper’s sister, (she plays Erin).

The Happy/Sad boxes were really funny.

“Champagne?”
“Happy.”
“Ukulele?”
“Sad - something to break.”
“Box of chocolates?”
“Yours - for a job well done.”
“Two bottles of scotch?”
“Both sad.”

And the celebration scene was funny as well. Erin totally getting into it, Michael popping the champagne, video-Michael challenging a dance off, etc.

this episode, as with all other episodes, was written WELL ahead of time.

Ah, you guys are a bunch of sour sallys. I thought it was plenty funny.
-The Nard Dog getting down to Dave Matthews at the roller rink.
-Creed pissed when someone else does a cartwheel.
-Kevin: Right back at ya bitch!
-Strobe light!
-broccoli under the tongue

Nah, I’m a Bitter Biffy. And this was about the worst…episode…ever.

This episode was pretty weak. I was bored silly by the Michael and Holly plot.

I did love Darryl sitting on the floor at the roller rink, reading his new Kindle while Andy and Dwight were skating. That was great.

I thought there were a few good lines, but the concept was pretty strained. (Although not as bad as last night’s “30 Rock”.)

“My resolution was to eat more vegetables this year and I haven’t yet. But that’s okay. There’s still time because I didn’t eat any last year.”

I thought they were gonna hurry Michael Scott out the door. He’s the worst thing about this show, and I really seriously thought this episode was going to end in the credits scene with Erin walking into his office only to see his legs hanging from the top of the screen.

Speaking of Erin, I rewinded and watched that cartwheel scene about 10 times.

I know it’s lowbrow humor (which is another thing that doesn’t fit this show) but I did laugh at Dwight rollerskating across the street and into the strip club. Too bad that story had no pay off.

Oh come on. “The day shift at a strip club? You can’t unsee that.” You have to admit that was funny.

It wasn’t a terribly exciting episode. Daryl suggesting to Dwight and Andy to go to the bookstore to pick up chicks seemed a little familiar… and then I realized it was something similar to a scene in 40 Year Old Virgin. It’s probably just a coincidence though…

And how Daryl is down with a lot of things, but a strip club, at noon, on a Monday, isn’t one of them.

Oh hell, I gave up on 30 Rock a year ago. The plot never changes and what was once amusing (and even funny) is just tired now. NBC needs to find some better writers and idea people.

Wow I really enjoyed this. Michael dancing with his video-self and the entire field trip away from the office were hilarious.

Although I dislike that Kevin has gone from slow but functional to an imbecile who has never eaten broccoli before- that scene was -bleeping- hilarious.

I was really sad that the Dwight at the Stripclub story had no payoff. I did like the shout out to roller derby.

Is John Krasinki working on a movie or something? Outside of the cold open, he wasn’t even in the background of this episode.

If I were him, I’d be distancing myself from this show before it becomes a complete joke.
