Where is this bill from and how does one exchange it for dollars?

Someone placed this bill in the collection plate at our church. Our treasurer is puzzled and wants to know where it’s from and how to exchange it.

It’s a 20-baht note from Thailand.

Approximate U.S. value: 50 cents.

I never cease to be amazed at the blazing fast response time for no-nonsense questions like this one.

Thanks!

Damn, I suspected it was Thai but by the time I found a link, I was beaten out. Need to be quicker on the draw.

Ah, but your link shows the old 20-baht note, while mine shows the new design, a sample of which found its way into the collection plate in question.

Grasshopper.

And what is the US value of a 20 baht note? If it is less than $1 I’m pretty sure no one will exchange it for you. At least whenever I exchanged currency they didn’t bother with the small chunks which became souveniers.

Well, I see my question was already answered by Bryan. Tell your treasurer to throw 50 cents in the kitty and keep the note as a memento.

Of course, in Thailand, that note could buy you three or more lethal diseases.

I would put it up for the next church auction.

(Or go and put it in the collection plate at the next Lodge meeting. Let them worry about it.)

Or hold on to it for a bit. Someone may have been keeping it in his wallet as a momento.
