Class of 80, never got one. Couldn’t afford it, didn’t see the need for it. Never got a yearbook my senior year either. I couldn’t afford to preorder one, and at the end of the year, they didn’t have any extra yearbooks available for non-preorders to buy, like they had the previous years.
Never got a high school ring; I hated high school. Still wear my college class ring; I loved college!
I voted that “I don’t have it, but knew where it was last” But that refers to my college ring. Washed my hands in the bathroom in a mall, and absentmindedly left it sitting next to the stack of paper towels. Walked out of the bathroom, got about 50 feet, realized what I had done, went back, and it was gone.
Bastards.
Checked with lost and found later that day, but alas, it was truly gone.
Still have my high school ring, but never wear it. Actually haven’t even looked at it in at least a decade.
My husband and I sold ours at a pawn shop trying to come up with a mortgage payment. Our wedding rings, too.
I have a tie instead of a ring. No
My h.s. class ring has a tennis player on it. I never played tennis, but didn’t know what else to get on in because I didn’t do anything in high school except yearbook. I guess I could’ve gotten something to do with that.
Anyway, it’s in a box somewhere.
Never had one. They cost about $250 at my high school, and while my parents would have bought me one if I’d wanted, I couldn’t justify the expense on something so ugly that I’d never wear. The yearbook and the senior class t-shirt were already $100.
Mine used to be loose on my finger and I believe it probably slipped off at a job I had, doing outdoor manual labor. I can’t say I especially care these days. At least iit wasn’t a precious metal one, rather one of the pseudo-silver ones with a chunk of soda bottle glass for a stone.
I wore my college ring for several years after graduation, but then when I got engaged I felt like I just had too many rings on. Stopped wearing it, and put it away in my jewelry box. It’s a nice style and doesn’t scream “class ring,” but I doubt I’ll pull it out to wear it again. Guess it was a silly purchase, but my mom was sure I’d regret not getting one, so I got one.
Last I saw it was in a '66 Barracuda, beats me after that. That was in '71 and my fingers had gotten too big for it.
Ex-girlfriend claims it was stolen. Don’t know where she is, either.
I never got a high school ring, but I did get a college ring. I don’t wear it because it doesn’t fit me any more.
Top shelf of my bookcase in my room at my parents’ house. And likely to stay there, since:
A. It’s huge and inconvenient to wear
2. I’m really not that nostalgic about high school. and
• I’m not really much for jewelry or accessorizing anyway.
Sold mine as scrap gold.
(emphasis mine)
Someone with your user name would have to ask why someone doesn’t wear his or her class ring, 25 years on? It’s 'cause we got FAT, dude, and it doesn’t fit anymore.
(Well, I never had one, but if I did, I’m sure it wouldn’t fit now…)
I never had one. There were two choices for class ring and the class voted for the ugly one, so my parents bought me a monogram ring instead. But I caught it on a door handle and bent it all out of shape, so it’s sitting all mangled in a jewel box.
The first time I ever heard of the custom was on this board.
I only got a class ring because my father insisted I needed it. (From High School).
At some point during college, it disappeared. I had a shelf at home where I kept things like that and when I went looking for it, I couldn’t find it. It’s possible my father or brothers took it, maybe it fell off the shelf… I don’t know. When I moved all of my stuff out to get my first place, it wasn’t there.
I wore it a little bit after high school, but I never really wanted it in the first place. I hated high school and would like to be reminded of it as little as possible. It looked really cool though; I went with an onyx stone and white gold band.
Same here! Still waiting for my Hall of Fame ring!
My high school ring is in a drawer in my nightstand. I wore it pretty much from when I graduated in 1974 until I got married in 1983 (except when I was in boot camp in 1980).
Doesn’t fit me any more.
