Alright, on a recent vacation, the plane was way the hell overbooked and I was forced to stay the night in Puerto Rico. Anyway, I got a $250 travel voucher because of it. Well, next year, a friend and I were planning to make a trip somewhere, passing time meeting chicks and drinking. So where could I go cheaply (I’m a poor student) and out of the country? My budget is just bout $1000.
Where do you live? That makes a big difference in the cost. I’ve found that the airfare is usually one of the biggest expense of my trips. If you live in the southeast, try the caribean, maybe Jamaica; South: east coast Mexico, like Cozumel and Cancun; Southwest: west coast mexico, like Cabo or mazatlan; Northwest: Canada, Victoria is really nice, or even Vancouver(Most stylish city I’ve ever been to.)
Anyway, what’s cheap and accesible all depends on where you live. A grand should be enough for a week’s vacation if you plan it right.
Unfortunately I live in Norfolk, VA.
You poor thing…
Maybe Toronto? It’s a great party city. Not a huge night life, but a fun one. You can check out the CN Tower and watch a game from the Hard Rock Cafe. Also, you can stop by Niagra falls when you’re there. I think it’s about an hour away.
Anywhere you have never been.
How about New Orleans? Thats a city quite legendary for its partying abilitiy, I am sure you can stay there on the cheap and have a grand old time.
pat
I was thinking Mexico, maybe. I didn’t know how bad airfair was though. But of course, one there, it’s pretty cheap. Anyway, the other thing I would need to know is how to get transportation. Because, I’m not 25 and neither is my friend, so there is no way to rent a car unfortunately.
Don’t necessarily assume that once you get there, Mexico will be cheap. Some of the bigger resort towns are getting to be equivalent to US prices. On the up side, you won’t need to rent a car in most places, since everything is usually accessible within a few miles, or you can take a collectivo or cab if you need to, usually for just a few bucks in town. Your best bet is to buy a Frommers travel guide that covers the cities you’re interested in. I’ve always done this and found out so much before I ever got there. Good luck!
