Where to buy quinoa

Thread title says it-in the Harrisburg, Baltimore, or Philly markets. Main supermarkets have nada, and the Mexican stores where I pick up great peppers and such also are drawing a blank.

I buy it at Whole Foods. Is there one in your area? I’ve also found it at the local hippy-dippy “health food store”.

I get it at Trader Joe’s

I second Gwendee, and it’s also at Whole Foods here.

I got it in the bulk section of Whole Foods as well.

Bulk foods at Safeway.

supervenusfreak gets it at the organic foods booth in Central Market (morning to afternoon Tuesday, Friday and Saturday) here in Lancaster (which is probably closest). I know Trader Joe’s has it, too…there are several in Baltimore that I know of, and one in King of Prussia.

Most of the local grocers sell Bob’s Red Mill products in the baking aisle.Mebbe check them for a local vendor.

Thanks for all suggestions. Apparently the folks at my local Giant don’t know their own inventory. I decided to check the orgasmic wheat-free gluten-free born-free stuff aisle (where I never go) and darned if it wasn’t right there.

:dubious:
Quinoa gets stuck in my teeth!

Quinoa looks like a bowl full of little, itty bitty condoms. I don’t like it.

Heh, I don’t know what itty-bitty condoms look like, but this stuff looked like itty-bitty worms.
danceswithcats made a nice dinner for the two of us, but once the quinoa had cooked (steamed, actually) there were itty-bitty things in it, like the husks (?) had come off. Itty-bitty curly bits; they looked like worms. We ate it anyway. It was pretty good.

Yeah, I was a bit taken aback the first time by those, too. But it’s just too good to dwell on unfortunate visual correspondences…I loves me some quinoa.

Wild quinoa grows on the eastern edge of Elysian Park in Los Angeles (near Dodger Stadium), and anyone is free to pick it.

But I guess that’s a little far to go, and it’s right next to the 5.
