Where to find impartial supplement reviews?

I’m interested in some supplements and protein powders because I have started working out more regularly. I do Sambo, which is a Russian grappling style similar to Judo and Jiujitsu, and I try to hike at least every other weekend.

I have ordered a fat burner from a supplement site, and they have a deal on a different supplement I am interested in that is a buy-one-get-one, but trying to google supplements and getting real reviews that aren’t advertising or shills seems impossible. Where do fitness buffs (which I am not hardly!) find out what works/is safe? I also am worried about steroids being snuck into a product I can buy, the last thing I need is to be on the juice and not know it and throw my testosterone balance out of whack!

Forget the fat-burner, that only works in conjunction with the diet/exercise plan they include.
The only supplement you need is a multi vitamin/mineral (nothing overboard, you don’t need many times the RDA in anything). Whey-egg protein powder, instatized(mixes more easily), what ever is on sale at GNC or similar.

I tend to check out r/fitness for that kind of information, but honestly, I don’t know of any fat burner worth bothering with. If you want to go in the direction of pre-workout type supplements, they discuss those pretty often, though personally I’m not a fan. You’re better off sticking to multis and whey.

I’m not sure there is such a thing as an impartial source for information about workout supplements. It may well be the most shill-ridden industry on the planet.

There’s always anecdotal reviews on discussion forums, but they’re often written by plants too. When it comes down to it, though, it’s much like the OTC medication industry in that there are really only a couple of active ingredients that actually do anything— caffeine being one of them— so they all tout their own exotic-sounding (and unproven, and all likelihood completely inert) additives to make you think their wildly expensive product is somehow different from the rest.
