As many of the Teeming Millions know, I’ve been posting to a thread in MPSIMS which includes Scottish names–specifically, Dumfries, Galloway, and McManus. I haven’t had any luck finding their tartans when searching (AOL). Are there in fact sites which display these clans’ tartans? Thanks very much.
This site lists four Galloway tartans and implies that there aren’t any specifically for Dumfries or McManus. Btw, you know it’s all nonsense don’t you, this “clan tartan” thing?
Sure, there are lots of tartan finders on the internet. Here’s one. If you can’t find your particular name, your family might be the sept of a particular clan. For example, Crawford is a sept of Clan Lindsay.
