Where to get rid of Beanie Babies?

Where would a person get rid of 100 Beanie Babies?

Children’s hospital. Or eBay.

Depends on what you’re looking to get for them.

Children’s Memorial in Chicago won’t take them. They’re afraid of germs.

I suppose I could dump them in one lot on Ebay. They’re not in boxes. My MIL has like 500 of the little bastids and she’s culling the herd.

A dumpster.

The Goodwills around here take them and sell them for ~$1 each.

Goodwill?
Salvation Army?

I’d try E-bay, but the market for them has gone WAYYY down over the years. You’re MIL hung on to them too long. Sell them as a lot and get rid of 'em.

(Or hang on to them for another 25 years and see if the fad comes back)

I just thought…maybe the OP is looking for this type of answer, like “How do I get rid of Smurfs in my yard?”
Soooo…
You could have donated them to the New Orleans’ National Guard about a year ago.

I think Ebay is probably the best bet. Her children are picking through them to add to their collections (I cannot bear the thought of grown women collecting these ridiculous monstrosities). There will be tons left over, as no one wants to duplicate. Whatever.

Look about 2/3 of the way down this page.

We recently donated a box full of beanies and other stuffed critters to the local police. They generally have a cuddly toy or two stashed in their cruisers if they’ve got a child to try and comfort.

Give em away for Halloween.

Beats the poo outta candy.

The soldiers that have requested them pass them out on patrols. There is a search feature, type in “beanie babies” or “toys.” Get a flat rate box from the post office for free, pack it full, I think it costs 7.70 to ship to Iraq/Afghanistan. You can email me if you have any questions about the operation or how to ship.

Thank you MLS, for beating me to it.

This is a VERY cool idea. (Even though I didn’t quote it as MLS misued the QUOTE function… :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: )

( I am being only slightly facetious. We have the QUOTE function so as to not misquote other Members posts, and although there is not rule against using it to quote outside sources, it’s unnessesary and annoying. There’s these little things called “quote marks” :stuck_out_tongue: )

This cracks me up. About 8 years ago, I worked as the night and weekend teller at a bank. Every Saturday morning, people would be lined up across the shopping center out in front of the hobby shop so they could pay ridiculous amounts of money for beanie babies.

Now someone’s just trying to dump them off on someone. Ha.

Great idea! I just sent a box Saturday (stuff for a G.I.). But this is a great way to help the innocents caught up in that nightmare over there. Thanks!

You could plant a few, and see if you get a magic beaniestalk. Who knows, you could get a golden harp out of the deal.

Does anybody remember that hilarious ebay auction a few years ago where the man was selling his ex-wife’s beanie babies?

I googled “beanie babies ebay auction ex-wife” and found several links. Here’s one that shows at least part of the auction. I seem to remember there being even more emails and responses at the end.

I think it would be much more fun to pour gasoline on them and watch them shrivel in flames, but I’m sure she’d rather do something semi-useful with them.
