I think that is a major part of it. I don’t really want to go out there just to find gore for it’s own sake, but I was sort of annoyed at CNN’s MH17 coverage with their constant reminders that yes, there are bodies out here that stink and look bad but we can’t show them to you because they are supposedly so awful. Were there any legitimate (not gore-specialty) news sites, shows, papers, etc. that did show the bodies?
The latest news story which is relevant to this discussion is the beheading of the journalist James Foley by the Islamic State. Did any of the traditional news sources show the the complete beheading? As I suggested I think you can find the full video here:
