I received a 1945 quarter as change. It’s not in very good condition, quite worn around the edges, but it’s worth more than 25¢, if only for the value of the silver. I would like to sell it. I’m sure I won’t be getting more than two or three dollars so obviously I don’t want to put a lot of effort into this. Do coin shops buy from some guy who just walks in off the street? Would those places that advertise that they buy gold and silver give me a reasonably decent price? Are there other options I haven’t thought of?
We’re paying 1.90 each today. The average coin store should offer !.50 or more.
Probably your best shot.
A single worn quarter from a common year is not going to find buyers. Even in ‘fine’ condition, it’s only worth about $2.00. Do you have an aspiring young collector in your family to give it to? A roll of silver quarters will fetch about $40 on ebay, but you’re way short of that, obviously. I’m doubting that a bullion dealer would buy it, but perhaps.
You could make a cool ladies coin ring from a silver quarter.
You’d likely burn more fuel driving to the coin shop than it’s “worth”. But see if they have any more…
I made one of those for myself, although I used a hammer, not a spoon.
