Where were you in '62?

I used to get laughed at when I would confess
that I was in the 3-4th grade.

BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!
(sorry, I couldn’t resist.)

HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!

Wasn’t even born yet. My mother was 12.

Wasn’t born yet, by four years.

Mom was 27, if that makes you feel any better, and you’re the same age as my sister Sherry.

11 years from being born- my mother was in high school, my father was in France racing cars or something.

Yep. I was just swimming around in my fathers testicles.

In the fall of '62 I entered second grade. I always count backwards or forwards from November of '63 when I figure the elementary grades out, because it is burned into my brain that I was in third grade when JFK was assasinated.

I was also in 3rd-4th grade.

Most Dopers, of course, were not even conceived by 1962. Those of us who can remember where we were then, are definitely the board’s greybeards.

My Dad was 9.

Do you mean 1862? If so then my great great grandfather was 9 years old. And in Tennessee. BTW all you guys must be really old!

2nd-3rd grade

The cut-off date for starting school in our district was December 31. I was born in January, so I was pretty much always the oldest in the class, except for those left back. I started first grade in Sept of 1960, so Sept '62 would have been the start of 3rd grade. I was in a basement classroom that year - weird the things we remember…

phantomdiver was six, FWTW. So it would logically follow that I was a few years away;)

Not born yet but I make the cut off for baby boomer, so I’m not that young.

3-4 grade too. Funny I don’t feel that old!

I was in the second grade, too.

Geez, I can’t believe that some Doper’s parents were so young at the time. It’s almost enough to make me feel old.

I was a twinkle in my daddy’s eye and a bulge in my momma’s tummy!

My parents were 10 years old, so I hope I wasn’t even a thought yet.

My parents were falling in love in high school. My husband was 3.

In diapers.

I was born in January

Let’s see…

I believe that would have been

my mom’s 12th trimester.
