Where'd Cecil go?

Periodically I’ll do a search on the wise one to see what he’s up to. Imagine my surprise just moments ago when I typed in ‘Cecil Adams’ in the search field and got- ‘Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.’.

You guys didn’t ban him, did you?

Well, he’s pretty reclusive. He lives alone in Big Cecil Manor with his butler Bangzingy, where he talks to gummy-worms all day and works as a crimefighter by night. And he’s got this really cool jet car called the Gry-mobile.

Well, actually, try doing a search for him with “Cecil Adams” in the “Poster’s Name” (or whatever it is) field. He’s got a few posts, so there should be some matches.

Cecil’s last post (according to his profile) was on October 12, 2000 at 11:08 AM.

Be sure and change the default search to “any date”. The default now is “last 5 days”. Cecil seems to have posted to 50 threads.

Jim

How many other people, when they think of Cecil Adams, think of Dominic Dunne? I have an image of Mr Adams that is almost identical with his. Is this even close to reality? Does anyone know?

Sorry, I think this is the wrong forum for the question above.

Ahh crap. That change in date thing has screwed up more than a few searches of mine lately.

Thanks Jimb.

BTW- Pretty sneaky putting the ‘Any Date’ selection at the top of the list, not the bottom.

What next, hiding the ‘Post Reply’ link somewhere on the page? Kind of like looking for the 'Nina’s in the Hirschfeld drawings?

Ohhhhhhhhh, Now I get it. How did I not notice this??!
Well, please ignore the thread I just opened in this forum.

I have a image of a slightly untidy greying man who is slightly overweight and also wearing a hat for some reason.

He could look like Ed Zotti for all I know

Journalists often used to wear fedoras with press cards stuck on the side. Could this explain the hat thing? But is this image (or even the Dominic Dunne one) dangerously out of sync with the image Mr Adams wants to have? He could well be from the school of Lester Bangs for instance.

Don’t be silly, yojimbo. Ed wears glasses and doesn’t have a cape.

I often picture Cecil and Eddie Z as The Professor and Poindexter from the old “Felix the Cat” teevee cartoons.
