Hope everything works out and you’re better soon.
good luck, man, we are thinking about you.
and now you are a pro at rehab, not a newbie any more.
We’re thinking about you. Keep us posted. What are the criteria for you to get out of rehab?
Thinking boutcha and best outcomes here.
what do you think of the new place, David?
since there is no way to know, focus on how you are now. how’s your bed mobility? how’s your transfer? are you getting in any food or liquid at all? (orally, I mean)
how are you feeling?
Hooray for a step in the right direction!
Everyone is nice and seems competent.
I’m allowed water and Gatorade by mouth; nothing else yet.
My mobility is improving. My walking is much better. A woman from PT did an assessment today. I may not get any real PT until after the weekend.
So glad to hear your mobility is improving. That’s uuuuuge!!
Best of luck going forward.
Happy to hear some positive news, hopefully everything keeps improving for you!
Your mother and I begged you to go to Abington Hospital!
Glad you pulled through this. Quite frightening sounding. Thank you for keeping us posted - induced coma?:eek::eek:
Keep coming back, willya?

Glad to hear the mobility is improving. That’s one of the best overall indicators, I’ve heard.
Keep posting!
that is about one ton better than no water or Gatorade, good for you. ![]()
Coming in late, as I haven’t been reading the boards as much lately.
Wowsers - what a hellish tale. As a frequent flyer, colonoscopy-wise, this is a terrifying read.
Good luck with this rehab - may the third one indeed be the charm! As others said, having someone to ride herd on them will help a lot - my mother-in-law spent a couple of stints in rehab after hip replacement surgery and they were frankly terrible about providing the services the doctor had ordered (of course, the fact that at one, the doctor didn’t even visit didn’t help). Threats of bodily harm (made by family, against staff) were made and frankly well deserved.
Oral stuff: When you can have something like broth, ask your brother to pick up some pho broth for you. It’ll make a nice change from gatorade, as well as packing a nice punch of sodium which I’d expect would be useful in your case.
every nursing home/rehab has an 800 number on the wall that you call to complain about care to the state people who do surveys. do THIS, not threaten staff. let them know you are doing this if you want.
it makes me sad and scared most people don’t know and maybe don’t want to know how poor care is for people at the end of life or trying to recover from a horrible accident or all the other people that end up in “skilled” care. you really need an advocate and that’s true even for those with no dementia. imagine how vulnerable those who have dementia are.
seriously, people, we need MAJOR change.
sorry if this is a thread hijack, David
*if it gets bad enough, call 911 - that will get their attention
Glad to hear the mobility is increasing. Best wishes on the PT.
Any update? Would love to hear how you are!

Just one question: How did they do a “colonoscopy” without a colon? Was your ileum attached to your rectum?
Sorry about the delay; I hadn’t stopped by here for a while.
It sounds like you have short-gut syndrome. You might eventually be transitioned down to PPN (partial parenteral nutrition) which won’t be as bad. At least you can have SOMETHING by mouth.
nm
They didn’t do a colonoscopy. They did an endoscope of the small bowel.
So how’s the rehab place treating you?
