I’ve never heard that First Ladies have a tradition of documenting the historic (meaning Red, Blue, etc. ?) rooms before their time was up. Is that really a thing? I can see where such a record might be of value, but why must the First Lady do it? Seems like about that time every four years the White House Historical Association would be given the task.
I believe Melania shares the same values (or lack thereof) as her husband. I rather doubt she was involved in the planning but I don’t think she gave two shits (or even a shit and a half) about the threat to democracy or the innocents who died because her husband craved the power and immunity from prosecution that it provided.
It certainly isn’t the case they all did it, as White House historian Melania Trump claims. Dolley Madison would have been inventorying a burnt out shell.
If the President was any good, though, I wouldn’t complain about the spouse.
The purpose of that photo shoot was for a potential coffee table book Melania wanted to “write” (undoubtedly someone else would have actually done that part) and sell.
Professional lighting, the sort used for photography and videography, could be seen through the windows of the White House. “Photos were being taken of rugs and other items in the Executive Residence and the East Wing,” a person familiar with the day’s activities with the first lady told CNN. Trump – who, as CNN has reported, has expressed interest in writing a coffee table book about decorative objects she has amassed and had restored in the White House – was overseeing the photo project, said the source, with her remaining time in the White House dwindling.
Normally the First Lady is off my radar. It isn’t an elected position and often not one the person really wants or perhaps doesn’t want at all. They’re expected to champion some sort of cause, which is all fine and dandy. Roadside beauty, literacy, nutrition- all good causes. Melania’s, ironically enough, was being against bullying. I wouldn’t care if they didn’t want to have a cause to crusade for. If they choose to sit around eating chocolate and binge watching romance movies, big deal. But the least they can do is do no harm. Wearing a coat with a message on the back ridiculing concern for immigrant children is a good example of what a First Lady (or even any human) should do.
If they were just lifting stuff, why photograph it? I think she was documenting small blemishes, cracks, etc. in an effort to get her security deposit back.
I can’t think of a single one. And I can usually find something good in anybody. I can’t think of anybody else I would say that about. Event Hitler at least liked dogs.
