I’m surprised not to see one! Anyway, I missed the last half of the show. Would anybody care to tell what happened?
The med student (Don Cheadle plays him) with Parkinson’s talked the dying woman into sticking around a bit longer; Jing-Mei made out with Mekhi Pfeiffer’s character in his apartment; Abby was worried about her brother’s behavior and his new gal; Luka was upset that Abby didn’t warn him about the nurses filing a petition against him; Hale (sp?) told Abby she wasn’t going to put up with Luka’s behavior; Elizabeth took the train home after relucantly leaving med student on the bench because his meds hadn’t kicked in yet and he couldn’t get up.
Not bad from memory, eh?
And Pfeiffer’s character (no, I can’t remember his name either), his brother or friend or whoever that guy is that seems mentally challenged won the $87 million lottery.
I think his name’s Leon.
I’m betting (no pun intended) that he won something like $100 or $1,000.
I could see him getting excited over that amount.
With a big lottery like that, aren’t there usually lots of winners of low amounts?
I’m guessing whatever the amount was, the doctor would hve glad twice the sum NOT to get interrupted like that.
the doctor (forget his name) would have gladly paid twice…
There was also a very good exchange between Carter and Nathan (Don Cheadle) about his talking the terminal woman out of her DNR. (He brought her flowers and talked with her for a long time; she ended up deciding to let herself be admitted and be put on the trasnplant list)
He told Carter that there is lots of progress being made in stem-cell research and that she could have a chance, and shouldn’t just give up.
Carter made it seem that he (Nathan) just had a personal agenda because of his Parkinson’s, and that with all her other conditions, her really didn’t have a chance.
It was rather sad at the end when Elizabeth saw him sitting on the El bench. The train came and she moved to get on, and realized that he couldn’t get up. She said, “You can’t get up, can you?” and asked if he needed help, but he said he’d be okay once the meds kicked in.
The scene just ended with him sitting on the bench. Don Cheadle rocks.
One weird thing…when we saw Elizabeth and Nathan outside, they were both dressed in heavy coats. After all, it’s November in Chicago.
But Abby and Carter went to some outside bar to go dancing with her brother and his girlfriend, and were sitting around with no coats on, like it was a warm Spring day.
Way to drop the continuity ball.
pseudotriton ruber ruber, his name is Pratt.
Well, that’s one way of looking at it.
Nathan said that “Heart disease could be cured in one year, cancer in four. . .” etc. “And then we might be out of a job.” (Cater might have said that)
And some more idiocy that seemed to insinuate that “political posturing” and the evil pharmaceutical industry were behind a conspiracy to keep people sick, but alive so that they (doctors and aforementioned evil industry) would not be out of jobs/
I meant a good exchange in that it was nice to Carter back being a doctor, and trying to explain that sometimes it is hopeless, as in the case of that woman. She was the one who said her lungs were usless, her heart was shot and several other things were wrong with her.
Nathan’s a student and Carter was trying to teach him.
Much better than him just slobbering all over Abby all the time.
Those two have zero chemistry. Bleecchh.
Nice to have Carter back being a doctor.
:smack:
Good point.
(nevermind)
Hey, eayh. I hadn’t been paying that much attention. The were at some kind of carnival and were drinking/dancing out on the patio…
Hmmm… There are only two ways I can think to weasel out of that one.
a) Leaving Don Cheadle on the L platform took place several hours later (it’s chilly when the sun goes down, but whoa nelly! is it cold by 4 a.m.!)
b) Heated patio (there’s one at a pub in my home town.) However, that looked like a mighty big deck to heat!
Thanks for all the answers! Does the preview for next week look good?
Can’t remember all the previews, but someone’s pregnant.
Yep, Weaver. (Remember the dropped syringe of hormones a few weeks ago?)
Well, I knew it was Weaver, but didn’t want to give it away. Sone people prefer to stay unspoiled.
The preview showed a sonogram, with the Preview Voice Guy saying, “A surprise pregnancy…” meaning not a surprise to Weaver, obviously but to everyone else.
Is Laura Innes pregnant in real life? I’m surprised that after Carol’s pregancy and then two real-life pregnancies (ALex Kinsgton and Ming-Na) back-to-back, that they’d do another one. If she’s really pregnant, it’d be so easy to hide.
Just my opinion, of course.
Regarding Dr. Weaver’s pregnancy:
I read on an online spoiler site that she has a miscarriage.
They were at Navy Pier. I don’t know if they use heat-lamps at the beer garden there, though - it’s certainly possible as the Pier is the most popular tourist attraction in Chicago. I’ve never noticed as I generally go in the summer. It’s warmer near the lake during the cold months, but not that much warmer.
